<t>Has anyone read "The Vegetarian Myth"? For vegan/vegetarians/anyone who doesn't know where your food comes from it is an excellent read. The basic premise is this:<br/> 1.) The author was a stoic vegan for years<br/> <br/> 2.) She got seriously ill being a vegan, but continued being a vegan becau...

<t>@ Jacob - I bought a freezer and a half grass-fed animal. I have tongue, liver, kidneys, fat and as much of the animal as I could - I try to use the entire animal - I figure I have to eat, something has to die, I might as well eat the whole thing. I took a tour of the farm that my animal grew on ...

<t>@ Johnny H - I guess I could use that stuff, but most of it is just some sort of chemical and some scent, which isn't really necessary. I shower still, usually twice a day (once at home and once at the gym), I just don't use chemicals. After not using deodorant for a while then trying it again, i...

<t>I have a hair trimmer, and grow a beard as well as keep my hair cut short. <br/> I haven't used soap/shampoo/deodorant in a while and nobody (including my wife) is saying anything about smells, so that's money saved to me. I figure humans lived for quite a while without this stuff, as long as I'm...

I could live in one of these tiny houses easily - my wife, not so much

@ Chris - I'm not sure where the opportunity cost would measure out, at some point in the future my spouse and I may move to a cheaper area than the city we currently live in. I grew up in a small town and would prefer to live "rurally" rather than in a city.

<t>I have been following the "Primal Blueprint" for a couple of month - lost 20 lbs without trying - was 5'11" 185 lb, now just about cut. Don't get hungry as much and can go most of a day without eating due to minimal insulin spikes as I don't eat carbs other than what I get in fruit and vegetables...

<r>I see buying a house as pre-paying rent. My house cost more than I would like to spend ($160k), but is going to take only approximately 6 years to pay off (or less). I bought it for 3 reasons:<br/> 1.) I would rather have the free cashflow in the future vs. paying rent.<br/> <br/> 2.) I can chang...

<t>I am also an INTJ - I am balanced by my wife who has not taken the test, but most definitely is not. I'm in the same boat as you Jacob - I really don't need people to accept me to be happy. Maybe that's why I'm still friends with people who I've known more than half my life (over 15 years) - it's...
