All hail George and Catdillac!
Does George visit often? Would you say he knows you guys?

Congrats on the continued progress with EAST, the newly acquired freebies, and the tentative new guy. Sounds like you guys had fun :D

Re: Getting my act together, better late than never
Check this out, you absolutely aced sorting out how you're going to make the accounting thing possible! AND you gained a key skill, how to approach things you've "failed" at and try again instead of ditching them wholesale. Your plan is sounding very doable, strength! Of course something else will ...

Re: Buying a computer - ERE style
I've tried to do this with word and there's formatting glitches. Not unfixable and not a problem if you're dealing with, say, a single school paper, but might be an issue in an professional setting where what you output on gdocs gives you no guarantee a ms word user will see the exact same document ...

Re: The continued viability of the 4% rule in the US in the 21st century
To bring the discussion back on topic, what I was interested in was the likelihood that going forward, PE ratios will truly decline because a meaningful income distribution from capital to labor is expected.

Re: The continued viability of the 4% rule in the US in the 21st century
Did they explain why income redistribution would happen?
Deportations would reduce the size of the labor force and at the same time there will be an increase in demand for work with reshoring; also trump is a populist and these are his constituents so he will shower them with transfer payments ...

What are the current cohort's takes? Why are -you- currently on this path?
Any OGs that see this, how have your thoughts changes?

Cat pictures?
Congrats on all tasks you managed to accomplish around EAST, on the free water (!), on the coats, and on all the favors you traded with everyone. Having niece around EAST will be fun, if only for the company. It's a good thing for her to participate in a renovation project ...

Re: The continued viability of the 4% rule in the US in the 21st century
An argument I encountered browsing fintwit all morning and half-listening to a podcast is that going forward, the US is likely too see an income redistribution away from the top 10% and towards the botommost cohort. Because the share of national income retained by labor will rise (and the share of ...

if I were in the US, I'd do a RN so I could be a traveling nurse. Seems lucrative and an easy way to capitalize on not yet having ties or dependents
Good luck, seems like you've researched it and are ready to go. Fingers crossed all shapes up.

easily fixable problem
I would argue that if the problem seems easily fixable to you but the person with the problem is having a very hard time fixing it + rejecting what seem to you the obvious solutions, you are defining the problem wrong / you are trying to solve the wrong problem. The ...

@drummer: thanks for stopping by! It's going to be country of origin, I've decided. I don't know if I'm lying to myself, but I'm telling to myself I can live there cheaper due to having a native advantage. Whether I'll stick there for life remains to be seen. I don't want to, but I also don't seem ...

Re: The continued viability of the 4% rule in the US in the 21st century
Correct: on the one hand, the US trade deficit will be incredibly hard to reverse, on the other hand, it cannot last forever. Or can it? US equities outperform because of QE, because of the US trade deficit, and because outperformance breeds outperformance as more money flows in what has recently ...

I'd like to speak against the chorus of people who advise that you drop these friends. A couple of flawed assumptions:
- the idea that if you spend time with people who have personality flaws etc., you will pick up those flaws is incorrect. It's a superficial fear, coming mostly from concerned ...

Re: What I Spend
Same, had a beer (one, the 1st one since august '23) a couple of weeks ago and it tasted good in the moment but it made my head soft and gave me a headache. Rather than making me relax and enjoy, it made me not think clearly in an unpleasant way. My decision not to drink was reinforced.

Re: The continued viability of the 4% rule in the US in the 21st century
I guess telling people what they want to hear sells books, but I'd rather assume the post-2008 run-up to be the freak exception. It's my reason for distrusting analyses based on it: how can we reasonably assume this situation will persist? It's the result of QE combined with the US sucking in money ...

I know these people exist, but
This might call for you actively organizing meetups for activities you're interested in (or otherwise publicizing them, idk if meetups are still a thing). Casting the net wider geographically makes sense, too. I guess it all comes down to figuring out what ...
