Hey Ertyu, I know this is rather late now, but just wanted to say I'm very sorry to read about the abrupt upheaval that happened, as the Tarot card foretold.

I was also terminated from a job while living in a foreign country (twice actually, at different times in my life), and both times it was stressful because it was connected to visa status and a sense of stability. So I really feel for you.

The second time this happened, I'd just discovered ERE fairly recently, so I think it ended up being a good kick in the butt to figure out the skills and find a better fit of a job for the future. But it still took many months of stressful difficult times to get there, with lots of felt self-doubt. I hope your journey is easier than that, and it sounds like it will be, because you already have lots of skills (and capital)!

But yeah, just wanted to say I really relate hard to what you expressed and it does not sound fun.

Have you been having any new thoughts about living locations?

One thing in my past situations, was looking at adjacent countries that are also cheap and have easy long-term tourist stays. Another one was going back to my citizenship country and living an easy life there for a while.
