Re: D&D > Video Games for ERE

How good or bad a game is is going to depend a lot on the activity level of the person and what game you are talking about. A student who sits studying then sits around playing games is likely just too sedentary. A person who is quite active might benefit from a break. Games help develop skills that...

Re: Sunbed for vitamin D and/or vitamin D pills in wintertime

Vitamin D increases calcium absorbtion. Calcium can strengthen your bones. It can also calcify your arteries or end up as calcium oxide kidney stones. That's why a lot of people stack it with vitamin K2 which stimulates bone growth so that the calcium goes where you want it to. Personally I get this...

Re: 7Wannabe5- Take 6

Here’s another weird thing about men. You might encounter one with hard eyes, his only interest in you exhibited by narrowed focus on your cleavage or ass. You might also encounter another one who seemingly has very little interest in objectifying your secondary sexual characteristics. He may claim...

Re: ERE Audiobook

i looked into some nietzsche audiobooks just the other day, as it seemed an interesting variation to keep around, but the reader’s voice was a turnoff—sounded like a baby. so i passed. Librivox.org has plenty of his works for free like this one: https://librivox.org/ecce-homo-by-friedrich-nietzsche/

Re: A Conservative Policy Solution to Slow Down Climate Change?

Bomb the living bejeezus out of our enemies, real or imagined. The added bonus is that promotes healthy tribalism in the countries, ironically stabilizing them. I guess we'll have to vote out trump. All those pesky peace deals! Three nominations for the Nobel Peace prize. This cannot be tolerated!

Re: A Conservative Policy Solution to Slow Down Climate Change?

Anything you propose will be dismissed out of hand. This is a complex issue that requires a wide array of tools to address. Since most people can't think past 1 solution to solve a problem they choose nothing. Instead they get stuck in an endless loup of defining and redefining the problem.

Re: Direct indexing for income

Mr. slowtraveler's last message in that thread was just saying he would do it. A message from another thread yields My experiment is far more volatile than the vanilla index fund. This is expected from Siegel's paper but interesting to experience. I'm up 3% relative to the index now. The reverse was...

Re: Direct indexing for income

I've heard talk of the idea, but never heard from someone who actually did something like it. You would save $400 for every hundred thousand invested. If you go through with it I would be interested in seeing an update about your experience. How do you plan to deal with dividends? If one of the comp...

Re: Are you an athlete? How do I become an athlete?

Well, if you are working full time and working out enough to stay jacked then it seems like hours available to read books would be limited. There is no reason you can't workout and while reading audiobooks. I do it all the time. And if you have a mundane task at work that doesn't require your full ...

Re: What's a good place to open a brokerage account?

If you are just going to put it in an index fund then go with vanguard. If you are buying individual stocks I like TD Ameritrade. It has free analyst reports and good charting software through the think or swim platform. The think or swim platform also gives you a paper trading mode to help you work...

Re: So, is Pence in Control at the Moment?

It's just the biased media trying to scare people. Nobody was ringing the alarm bells when Obama was taking modafinil and that is a drug that works similarly to cocaine (they both stop the re-up take of dopamine).

Re: Are you an athlete? How do I become an athlete?

I don't consider myself an athlete but I my guess is the best place to start is by joining a completion and start training for it. It just seems like you talk about this as though it is something to have as part of your identity rather than something you do. Though it can be part of one's identity, ...

Re: Most ratchet way to cut particle board?

You could probably do it by knife or borrowing. Though, a multi-tool doesn't have to cost a whole lot and can fit in your pocket. So space is not an issue. It could even increase what you can scavenge because you can just take hardware if that is the part that is still good. One with a saw and plyer...

Dude show the math. Show the bills. Few things are as convincing as evidence.

Of course, I don't think you should advertise your plans without forethought. So be careful there.

@Alphaville

Dementia it more of a health span issue than a lifespan issue. When you can't remember your own daughter it kinda cuts down on the quality of the years you have.

Re: Protecting against dementia

There's a lot of talk about alzheimer's being type 3 diabetes, because the neurons stop responding to insulin correctly. So avoid large blood sugar spikes. What I don't see on there is poor sleep. The glymphatic system only works to clean out plaque when you are asleep. Also the brain is 60% fat. So...

Yes give the girlfriend a meal replacement! What could possibly go wrong? There is no way she could take offense to that.
