I checked out your site. I have been trying to work at online business since 2001. The following quote from your site is interesting:

"It has never been easier to start an online business and the rewards have never been sweeter."

Because it's so easy, I think may people forget to do the business planning upfront that will help them be more successful. I also think the rewards were much, much easier to come by 10 years ago. The "never been sweeter part" is not true for most people who start a blog in 2013.

A blog with some Adsense ads and Amazon affliliate links is not a good enough business plan unless you can drive massive traffic to the site. My nickname was mentioned on Craig Kimmel one night and my Adsense revenue for that 4 or 5 hour period was more than $100. The next day it was $50, but most days I average $3. I'm fine with that because I've made about $7k from a hobby that I would do anyway, but I don't really consider my blogs a business. My thoughts would change if I could generate $50 a day consistently. For me and my personal opinion, $50 a day would be the minimum I would consider a business. Less than that is really just a hobby in my opinion.

Mostly people pitching shit. You can get ideas and general insights, but actual implementation is going to be down to you. No one is going to say "I'm making $50,000/year and here is exactly how I do it", because competition generally drives down returns and it is easy to replicate things online.

Your best bet is find someone who is making money, track down where the income is actually generated (affiliate links, e-book sales, etc?) figure out their traffic sources, and try to replicate the mechanism.

That was actually a bit misleading. By "someone" I mean "any website that makes money", you can generally tell if a website makes money if it's purpose is to make money and it either ranks well in Google, pays for advertisements, or otherwise apparent that someone is actively working to generate traffic to the website.

For example, search for anything that generates ad results, here I searched for "varsity jackets":

https://www.google.com/search?client=sa ... 8&oe=UTF-8

Top ad for me in US is:

Varsity, letterman jacket - Create your jacket - WebJacket.com‎
http://www.webjacket.com/
No minimum Plain, embroidery. Sale NOW !‎

Now you could be lazy and check SEMRush

http://www.semrush.com/info/webjacket.com?db=us

It's clear they've been paying for a lot of traffic since Januarry 2011. You can be 100% certain this website is making money, and has a good conversion funnel or they wouldn't be able to afford the #1 spot on Google.

Then it would be a matter of putting in the effort to reverse engineer the entire thing. It will be a lot of hard work, but if done properly could become a decent business.

Note: they also rank well for some natural search results, so the ads may not be the main source of profit.

I've seen a million people ask "how is money made online" but 99.99% of the time no one wants to put in the effort. That's why dumb "get rich quick online with no work" products that cost you money sell so well. Reduce something to a commodity and people know how to buy it, but actually freely elaborate on a complex process and it is too difficult.
