The same family was featured in an episode of Doomsday Preppers. Comparing the two shows just how much the choice of background music and editing influence how the exact same group of people will be perceived.

I like what they say, and the inspiration they provide.
However, after their blog started to take off they tried to trademark the term "urban homestead" and started threatening to sue other bloggers and writers who used that phrase:

IMO that's evil and totally antithetical to values they give lip service to. Since then I haven't wanted to have anything to do with them.
