I'm Jacques. I'm 26, live in NYC, and have read+re-read the ERE book as pre-bedtime material for a few years. I occasionally read the forums too.
Some relative frugality plus a F500 software engineering salary have given me enough breathing room to think about my life and what I'm getting out of it. I'm making this introduction at a time that I'm actually planning to spend more money in the short term to accomplish some life goals, but I do think the emphasis on skill acquisition and viewing one's life as a system gel well with my personality and interests. I entered adulthood with interests in basically everything - music performance, politics, writing, foreign language acquisition, etc - and have sacrificed a lot of capabilities and interests to earn a high salary.
Some relevant stats that I would like to see change in one direction or another:
- Net worth: ~$246k
- Spending: high single-digit JAFI
- Resting heart rate: ~70BPM
- Powerlifting total: 675lbs
- LBs of bodyfat (est.): 65lbs
