FI-Ameise says "hello"

Post by FIAmeise »

A warm „hello“ to all the nice people around here!

My "name" is Ameise, I’m a 41 years old female and I live in Europe. „Ameise“ is german translates into ant and I chose this name because I think, that strongness is often coming out of thinking and working on something together. Plus: Smalls things matter.

I’v been reading your stories and journeys for a while now and it gave me a lot to think about. Even if I consider myself a more introvert person, your sharing motivated me to get out of my shell – thank you for all for that.

I guess I’m quite a late bloomer regarding ERE – I sometimes feel that I have already lived quite a lot of different life’s and I took a bunch of detours to get here. But I’m here now and I guess that’s what’s important. The big goal to retire with 40 is a bit too ambitious, if you are already 41 😉 That really bothers me sometimes, but it is what it is, right?!

So, I live in a house, which I built together with my husband and my parents. We almost did everything on our own and it took us 3-4 years to complete the building. It was a great experience and I’m proud of what I discovered I’m capable of doing. Also, a great gain is, that we now own a nice, big flat and didn’t have to take out a mortgage. So, we are debt free.

I work part-time since almost two years, before that I worked for many years as a freelance consultant. I think I earn okayish but I love the most about this job is the high flexibility it comes with.

I spend 600 €/month but I’m planning to lower that to 500€ or even a bit less. That’s a real challenge and I’ve been working on it quite a bit in the last months and years. I kind of combined budgets and tracking of real expenses, I will fill you in my system in one of the next posts. I want to start a Journal soon. I guess I’m about halfway through with my “number”, but I feel very free and I’m already arranging my live around that freedom.

Looking forward to developing that freedom further with the inspiration of this forum. :)

Thank you so much for your welcome, I'm very happy to finally "be" here. Spending has been my biggest focus for some time now. Tomorrow I will start my jounal and share some more information about it. I look forward to sharing and hearing your opinions and ideas.
