Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Hi everyone.
I reallised a lot of people on the forum at least dabble in rock climbing.
I live in an area densely packed with climbing crag and boulders within day trip distance, either by bike or public transport. (Local topo is some centimeters thick).
Who would be interested to do a week of climbing next summer?
I don't climb often, so i'm bad, so anyone even remotely interested in climbing is welcome, it's also great if you just want to grill at the crag.
The area is very easy to acess with cheap airlines or interrail. Hitch hiking works reasonably well too.
Switzerland can be expensive, but we'll wild camp and cook.
Supermarket are reasonable, cheaper than the us unless you're on a carnivorous diet.
I see it in july 2025.
A lot of climbing spots are kids friendly so families would be welcome too.
Are you people up for it?

Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
I'm interested!
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Great. We'll workout details with people that manifested interest, but we'll try to make it so that people can join spontaneously.
Also, if you are interested, but don't like camping, depending how much we are, we can organise a reasonable rental.

I'd be interested! Beginner climber and I've never climbed outdoors though. But it sounds like a great way to meet ERE people, thanks for suggesting this Jean!
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Really nice, actually, i checked your journal after you wrote in mine, and that's how i got the idea.
Route difficulty in the area go from 3a to 8c, so we can probably find spots that would be interesting for everyone, even non climbers.

I am interested, too! I have never climbed outdoors, but started indoor climbing this year.
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Oof you are seriously tempting me to cross the pond again...
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Oh perfect! With such a wide range, that should be fun for everybody!
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
@AH
That would be a win
But there are enough thing to do for way more than a week. Not just climbing,

Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
If we're still in Europe in July and have Schengen days left, definitely in just to hang and learn a bit of climbing.
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Here is a list of prerequisites to join the meet up:
You are willing to :
Sleep outside, or in an opencave
Hang out with eremites
Tolerate people grilling meat on the common fire
Tollerate bad climbers
Walk a bit beetween spots, because i have no car, the sceneries are great, and public transport are kinda expensive if you pay full price (around 5.- for a ride beetween spots, sometimes around 10).
I picture it like this:
Early arrival sleep at my place. We go climbing at the closest crag, and hang out at the lake. When we are a small group, we choose a place, and walk there trough a scenic itinerary, first hour is trough the city, so we can buy groceries. Options are among others :
A cave on the cliffside, it sleeps ten people. Accessible without climbing. Good climbing on site, lot of options on other parts of the cliff.
A hut at a crag with great view. And lotvof other crag close by
Wild camping at the top of a meadow with a beginer friendly crag, we have to undo our camp every day tough, cause even if it's not forbiden, we could still be asked to leave, or be the reason forva formal interdiction in the future.
Camp near one of the several crag or slab close to the lake. Lot of forest, so easier to be discrete.
Camps at.my forest or a nearby cave, with a crag 20 minutes away from it.
Sleep under a big block , somewhere over the lake.
All those spot are a few hours walk to a day walk within each others.
Thiscould be awesome.

Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
For sure will be awesome! Sleep outside as in with no tent and a tarp and or bivvy bag?
How early can early arrivals come? DW and I want to by the occasion confirm that we want to move to Switzerland. We can sleep in your woodland if easier; also can speak closer to the date.

Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Really tempting, but in .lv for most of July. Tickets already booked a month ago. Concerts, family and friends visiting. I'll have to make time to drop by another time I'm afraid.
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
@guitarplayer
You could stay several week in my woodland, but I don't know If you'de get a good idea of switzerland from there
Its one hour walk to the closest bus stop.
Sleep outside means portable shelter for me, so tent is included.
@Loutfard
If you want to visit at an other time, you are welcome.

Caveat: I love hiking, but might not be as fast as you guys... especially downhill (angry knees).
Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
Oooh, I'd be very interested in joining. I've done some indoor bouldering before, but nothing really beyond that—but perhaps I can find some way to get better at climbing between then and now

Hang out with eremites Yes!
Tolerate people grilling meat on the common fire Yes!
Tollerate bad climbers Yah, I'll be the over enthusiastic one shouting from behind "you got this!", and if you don't I'll say "ah almost"

Re: Europe ere climbing meet up 2025
It looks like most interested only boulder.
I have only one crash pad, and one rope.
Does anyone else has some gears?

@Jean How did I miss this thread! DW and I are definitely interested. We had such a great time staying with both of you last summer. After we left, DW even got certified the following month and picked up her own climbing gear second-hand, so we got some gear.
