Our MMG took the summer off, so some of us decided to do a book club instead. We are opening it up to the forum at large. We'll meet on Zoom or Discord to discuss the book. The date/time is flexible if someone really wants to do this, but the given time doesn't work. I'll send a link to interested parties as it gets closer.
Book: Reinventing Organizations by Frederic Laloux
Time: July 27, 2024 8AM PDT, 3PM UTC
I'll eventually post some discussion questions here. Others may do the same, or just post their thoughts and comments on the book. No reason discussion can't happen here before the live session.

What made you guys choose this book? How do you believe it will be useful for an EREr to read?

During the SD discussion we had earlier in the year, berrytwo linked this website related to the book, and it piqued my interest. Then 7wannabe5 mentioned the book in my journal, so it has been top of mind for me.
The book is about organizational management from SD level yellow (teal in Laloux's terminology), which he describes as self-management. Since the books from that viewpoint are few, I thought it would be useful for aspiring ERErs. Having just finished the book, I think one can draw direct analogies to the ERE philosophy. I could explain, but I don't know if that ruins the exercise for the reader.
I will say that this is the business book I wanted when I was in business school, but sadly it came out 4 years after I finished. I was dying to learn about the importance of purpose in business, but the response from my professors was along the lines of "Meh. Mission statements aren't everything, grundomatic. They probably don't even matter that much." This book discusses organizations driven by purpose. Not the purpose of making money, and not the purported purpose in the empty mission statements of modern corporations. Right up my alley.

This looks relevant to my interests, thanks for setting this up. I'll join the discussion if I can, that date might be tricky though. Either way looking forward to the discussion here.
ETA: My library didn't have it so I ordered a used copy. And then I saw that you can pay-what-you-like for the ebook here.
