Hello from Minas Gerais, Brazil!

Post by PulpUser »

About me:

Age: 21
Gender: Male
Location: Minas Gerais (State), Brazil
Occupation: Student
MBTI: I had no idea about what this was until I saw in one of the ERE blog posts. I took 2 free tests online, and here it's the results:
- First one: INTJ [Introvert (89%); iNtuitive (88%); Thinking (75%); Judging (78%)]
- Second one: INTJ [Introvert (100%); iNtuitive (63%); Thinking (84%); Judging (84%)]

I don't remember exactly how I found the blog, but I think that was by a post in Mr. Money Mustache in which he cites the acronyms "ERE" and "YMYL" without explaining the meaning, and I searched it to learn more (thanks Jacob!) and found the blog. But the MMM blog I found by an interview he gave to one major news site in late 2013.

Currently I'm studying to become a civil servant, which offers really good work opportunities, especially for a person of my age (It's virtually impossible to find a job which pays +$100.000 (before taxes) in a year without a solid career). I think it's the fastest path to ERE.

My initial plan is to reach financial independence before my thirties, but I really believe that I can reach sooner. And I will create a journal later to share a little bit about my path in the years to come.

P.S: I never studied the English language formally, besides in school (which teaches poorly), but I achieved a good level of comprehension throughout the years by consuming information in books, blogs, videos, podcasts etc. Now I'm trying to reach the next level learning how to express myself fluently in the language. So any criticism about my writing (in aspects of grammar and style) will be of great help.

WRT languages, bigato is another autodidact Brazilian. You guys already write better than most natives.

"I searched it to know more about" -> "I searched it to learn more"

I'm surprised that my writing is better than most natives (maybe it's because all the contact that I have is with people who writes for a living or hobby). In that sense, maybe it's not much different than Brazil, where the average level is really low.

Including, one of my goals is to develop my communication skills to adapt the way I express based on the context I'm in. Sometimes it's really hard to relate to another person when you can't explain in a way that they can understand.
