Is anyone going to buy Apple today?
Is anyone going to buy Apple today?
Some of the new products are coming out soon and there's supposed to be a media event tomorrow. It could likely go up in the next few weeks. You could even just day trade for the media event which will likely send it up. Thoughts?
Re: Is anyone going to buy Apple today?
Good thing I didn't do that. Somehow the stock seems to be taking a dive today at least so far.
Re: Is anyone going to buy Apple today?
I usually don't buy before a big announcement. If I have a good feeling I know what is happening others do too. The bloomberg coverage was outrageous. Emily Chang interviewed a teen who is buying preproduction parts from greedy Foxconn employees. The kid nailed the release.
It may be worth putting a bet down with a stop. They do pay a dividend to keep you warm while you wait.
Let me clarify what I just babbled. I don't try to guess before a big announcement that is either too obvious or one I have no hope getting right compared to the next guy.

Ya. Somehow they took a dive the last day or 2. Looks like the hype didn't pay off after all. Some more products come out the next few weeks though. The anticipation may have already been put into the price because it was going up until then.
Re: Is anyone going to buy Apple today?

Whoa, was that bad advice or what? Sorry, I guess just sitting it out was the right choice. I'd have been stopped out.
Re: Is anyone going to buy Apple today?
I bought at $290 several years ago, and I do not care about the noise day to day. I know apply will use its 150 billion cash hoard to buy back stock and issue dividends. Dividends have been increasing a lot each year too.
Im in this for the long haul, and anyone interested in investing in apple should be too. So do your due diligence and if you believe in the future of apple, then buy low.

Apple is a Magic Formula buy.

Hi Viv,
"buy on the rumor, sell on the news" is an old Wall Street adage that is very often correct.
Its easy to get burned playing news events.
Its also easy to get lucky (50-50 chance) and then mistake luck for skill, leading to eventual larger losses.
If you are looking for something to buy now, consider something no one is talking a about.
You may want to take a look at VNQ, down 15% from its high.

Better margin of safety, along with the 3.75% dividend.

Straying off topic...VNQ is a fund of REITs, so it's valuation is closely tied to market interest rates.
Personally, I feel that 3.75% yield for REITs would be low, so between the relatively low yield and current interest rate environment, I wouldn't go near this fund. For REIT income exposure, you could just buy O (5.6% yield) and DLR (6% yield) and OHI (6.7% yield) as a small basket of reliable standard REITs.

Would have been a great buy in point apparently. It dropped from $500 to about $450. Now it seems to be working its way up to about $500 again. About $472 right now but will probably keep going. The market was sure scared of those 5Cs but seems to be feeling better about it now.

It appears undervalued unless revenue growth goes negative or profit margins drop below Samsung's levels within the next 10 years.
