Interesting points. Different mindset but I do see your points. But I'm not sure risk should be equated with ignorance. I find the the opposite is much more true. I also agree that its likely better than rent.

@ToFI - Mortgage is the cheapest way to borrow if you don't have the capital to borrow from a margin account :-)
On the other hand, mortgage borrowing is usually at a fixed rate for a term whereas the margin account is going to be variable. And a mortgage (in the USA) lets you leverage 5x rather than 2x.
