Re: brute journal
Well, it's about #$$@!! time you stopped by the forum again!
Congratulations on goals achieved. It's good to hear that someone will have positive reasons to remember 2020.
So perhaps now is the right time to revive your Libertarian thread...

Re: brute journal
I figured it out. Brute found meaning and this is what he's been up to for the last ~2 years:
Et tu, Brute?BRUTE wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2018 2:48 amsometimes brute has vague dreams of finding meaning in helping others, like "helping the poor", "working with the local community", "teaching ex-cons and veterans how to type on keyboards", or "something something black kids and cops". but it doesn't seem to interest brute enough to take any action (so far). brute doesn't actually seem to derive too much pleasure from helping others.
Re: brute journal
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illeismthird person self-referral can be associated with self-irony and not taking oneself too seriously (since the excessive use of pronoun "I" is often seen as a sign of narcissism and egocentrism) as well as with eccentricity in general. Psychological studies show that thinking and speaking of oneself in the third person increases wisdom... in certain Eastern religions, like Hinduism, illeism is sometimes seen as a sign of enlightenment, since through it, an individual detaches their eternal self (atman) from their bodily form; in particular, Jnana yoga encourages its practitioners to refer to themselves in the third person

I'm more interested in cardiovascular health of BRUTE.

Re: brute journal
am happy that brute is alive and well and am wondering about the details
Re: brute journal
Good to hear from you, brute!
Re: brute journal
maybe brute owes humans in this forum a little more detail. he really appreciates the warm welcome. What humans need in the United States is not division; what humans need in the United States is not hatred; what humans need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love, and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within this country, whether they be white or whether they be black.
Humans can do well in this country. They will have difficult times. Humans have had difficult times in the past, and they will have difficult times in the future. It is not the end of violence; it is not the end of lawlessness; and it's not the end of disorder.
But the vast majority of white humans and the vast majority of black humans in this country want to live together, want to improve the quality of their life, and want justice for all human beings that abide in this land.
And let humans dedicate themselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago:
To tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world.
brute has not:
- acquired a dog
- met a girl
- suffered a cardiovascular event
- voted for Biden
- stopped drinking coffee
- found any meaning in his life
- gotten a speeding ticket on his motorcycle (not for lack of trying)
- stopped being a libertarian
- been infected with corona virus
- gone to an office in almost a year
- pretended to look busy after his work was done
- found jesus or god
- started a garden
- stopped keto
- stepped in the same river twice; for the river wasn't the same, and brute wasn't the same
- gotten those tattoos
- reduced his book stack at all
- traveled as much as he used to
- voted Libertarian
- felt the need to drink 8 cups of coffee per day any more, and usually just drinks 2 now
brute has:
- a total cholesterol score that gives doctors heart attacks
- become even more patriotic about this beautiful country
- changed jobs multiple times
- slept better than ever before in his life
- seen things humans wouldn't believe
- done a coronary calcium scan upon pressure from his doctor
- become disenchanted with his industry
- to imagine Sisyphus happy.
- appreciated that every man has two lives: the second begins when the man realizes he only has one
- gotten very lucky with his absurd investment strategy
- been part of an effective team
- upgraded from sleeping on a thin mat to a twin mattress
- talked about libertarianism less than ever
- always paid, just not always with money
- stopped using an alarm clock
- 3 t-bones in the fridge
- done the right thing when nobody was looking
- been let off with a warning
- seen that nothing lasts..but nothing is lost
- probably come close to full circle on the meaning of life
- lived his life in loops, as tight and closed as the hosts do
- decided to take a job just for the money, with zero emotional investment
- learned that the price of being a sheep is boredom; the price of being a wolf is loneliness
- passed the coronary calcium scan with literally the best score possible
- visited almost 10 new states, and loved them all
- realized the true message of ERE is that happiness cannot be bought, it has to be found
- definitely come around on dogs and the laughter of children
- fired his doctor
- been very lucky with his career opportunities
- finally acquired permanent residency in these U.S.
- yet to eat at chick filet
- led a project to success without caring for it in the least, which might have been the secret sauce
- learned to appreciate his friends more than ever

Re: brute journal
I, too, rejoice in the return of BRUTE. And, like others, look forward to hearing more detail on what old he has had confirmed, and what new he has learned.
Re: brute journal
I don't get this quote. I found that's a reference to some dysutopian TV series, but can't find specific episode.- lived his life in loops, as tight and closed as the hosts do
Is it about this?

I assume this with 80% certainty.
