There should be some kind of procedural control people can implement to check their emotions. BOTH SIDES.

1. Thou shall not attack a person's character but the argument itself. ("Ad hominem")
2. Thou shall not misrepresent or exaggerate a person's argument in order to make it easier to attack. ("Straw Man Fallacy)
3. Thou shall not use small numbers to represent the whole. ("Hasty Generalization")
4. Thou shall not argue thy position by assuming one of its premises is true. ("Begging the Question")
5. Thou shall not claim that because something occurred before something else, it must be the cause. ("Post Hoc/False Claim")
6. Thou shall not reduce the argument down to two possibilities. ("Fake Dichotomy")
7. Thou shall not argue that because of our ignorance that the claim must be true or false. ("Ad Ignorantiam")
8. Thou shall not lay the burden of proof onto him who is questioning the claim. ("Burden of Proof Reversal")
9. Thou shall not assume "this" follows "that" when "it" has no logical connection. ("Non Sequitur")
10. Thou shall not claim that because a premise is popular, therefore, it must be true. ("Bandwagon Fallacy")
Breaking 1 or 2 of these rules usually leads to emotional reactions- especially rule# 1. I know I break some of these rules at times. I try never to break rule #1.
It's more difficult to stop an emotional outburst once it commences but this is why "sorry" and "I apologize" exist. Best means of preventing an emotional response is to observe your emotions and responses as if you're a bystander; you can argue respectfully and logically. It's a lot harder than it sounds. It takes constant practice and it's a perishable skill.

Re: COVID-19: Unwinding the Lockdown and Long Term Epidemic
Sen. McSally AZ introduced a new bill to encourage people (in the US) to travel. The American TRIP Act (Tax Rebate and Incentive Program), and would allot up to $4,000 in tax credits per adult ($8,000 per married couple), with an additional $500 per dependent. People would have to travel more than 50 miles from home and would be good through 2021.

I think a bill offering tax credit for buying stuff and then burning it in your backyard would be better idea.

Ha, I thought instead of paying businesses to stay open the government should have paid a lot of them to shut their doors permanently. How many Kohls and Five Belows does the world need?
Re: COVID-19: Unwinding the Lockdown and Long Term Epidemic
C’mon jp, how will our sisters in Bangladesh ever rise up to global middle class if we don’t do our part by spending an hour/week browsing the Clearance racks at Kohls?
