RV's are not worth the trouble

All the different ways of solving the shelter problem. To be static or mobile? Roots, legs, or wheels?

As far as airstreams, I was thinking get a 70s era (seems to have bigger windows), gut and restore:

Assuming you're not in CA or another hugely expensive area, why pay monthly rent on your RV at all?
I'd hate to be paying $50-$300 a month just for a place to park and hookup... In my area, I can buy a lot after the house is burned down (has hookups) for perhaps $5-10k. And I wouldn't consider my area cheap.
