While riding my dirt bike high in the Sierras near Monitor pass I came across a guy who would fit in here. His name is Jim and he lives in his home made camper shell mounted onto on his propane powered Toyota truck. He made the solar panel which charges the batteries he uses to power lights and his laptop. He has a 2m radio as well as a shortwave receiver (with antenna draped over the nearest tree). His bicycle is hanging on a home made rack on the front of the truck.
Jim lives in and around Arizona in the winter and up high in the mountains during the summer months. He said his monthly expenses are under $500. he said he has lived this way for 30 years and he's 61 now.
I forgot to ask for his email address. This post means nothing without pictures so here they are:

In short, by comparison, I am weak and have no skills. Something which to aspire!
