Re: Gaming/virtual economies (EVE online)

Were the games all within the same category, e.g. FPS, or did you play different categories too, e.g. FPS and RTS? Did you find that the skills/talents transferred between games such as game equivalent of IQ for academic studies or athleticism for sports? Starcraft, various shooting games, a few MM...

BNPL is a huge industry for younger generations Z and Alpha , and I guess some Millennials too and older folks too I guess. Sezzle is one of the fastest growing buy now pay later stocks in the industry. SEZL , some of my holding are up over 400%, and they are still so small market cap wise. This is ...

Re: Do Oil-based economies show more fiscal responsibility?

Oil isn't going anywhere, the fiscal policy that the US is doing to try to fight/ trade out China is going to backfire since we have been outsourcing manufacturing, and will take 15/20 years to rebuild the labor pool. I mean the US will always be the best economy, but India and China can be great al...

Re: garages vs stocks?

garages, storage sheds, pawn shops, laundromats can all be good depending on the area. I have a family friend who buys entire strip malls and updates them to what the college kids like. His daughter went to school, and he built her all her favorite shops nearby the dorms, and he invested hundreds of...

I like the outlook explained in the book the income factory. I also like the trading style of Walter Schloss/Peter Lynch. No such thing as too many holding, they both had hundreds.

Oil and LNG are going to be huge still for the next 100+ years. Great time to invest in the middle men of the industries.

Re: garages vs stocks?

I knew a guy who owned a parking garage, and it was a monthly membership with reserved spaces. He also got local businesses to make windshield flyers for coupons that he would put on their cars every week.

This was in Tulsa, OK around 1997-2000 era.

Sold a few positions in my Roth IRA this month, all were at least up 50%, three over 100%. Still holding 8 more over 50%, one gained about 35% last Friday alone. I have four limit orders sitting, ready to buy some time arbitrage plays this week, and hopefully flip before March for at least 30% profi...

Re: increasing savings rate vs using your income as an asset?

Gamifying your savings and investments is a really fun way to earn new "high scores", and seek out alternative strategies. One thing I like to do after my weekly grocery trip, is to see how much time can elapse before I have to go back. Longest streak was this summer, when I had a previous...

Re: Average retirement savings by age

... I forget that early retirement calculations are different than mainstream recommendations. Compared to saving 10x your salary and leaning on social security, even a 4% SWR seems conservative. The real crazy thing is that even the former is aspirational for many retirees. Have I said thank you f...

OK, I understand, we all can overreact at times lol. As humans we all need to be mindful of more of the things that bring us together and not separate us. I think I came across as a little aggressive too. I am personally very excited about my starting investment in a cool BNPL company called Sezzle ...

Re: Cheaply borrow from your future self

This is why so many people use BNPL (buy now, pay later) apps and services like Sezzle.

It lets them smooth down their consumption curve.

Also why credit card companies etc. love people to have revolving debt. Never pay them off, but just happy to use them and pay the monthly payment forever.

Re: watches: good investiment?

Reddit's sub /r/watches is a good resource. I used to want to get a very particular $30k Patek Philippe watch years ago, but I realized that it would be something that I would think about wearing, and protecting far too much to ever get much enjoyment out of it. So I found a similar watch for around...
