One of the better tests I came across that plots your position on a Left-Right and Authoritarian-Libertarian axes. It's also one of the oldest on the net.

As for no "don't care", on a lot of these I felt saying "Disagree" was more like a "neutral" than a, "I support the opposite of what this says and think this statement is wrong."

Naturally the libertarian axis in this test is not the same one as the "Are you a Libertarian?" poll posted earlier this year, where I wasn't even remotely Libertarian.

About this question:

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.

I said yes but I wonder if their test took that to imply that I thought a one-party state was a good thing. I mean, it is more efficient but I've come around to seeing the lack of efficiency in democratic political systems to be a good thing (for the most part, in the end, etc).

There was also something in 3D for political stances.

Last time I checked, I was +1,-3 or thereabouts.

What's interesting is to compare to the various parties and politicians (and apparently musicians) in the left sidebar.

Unless my memory is gas-lighting me, there's been a very significant shift to to the authoritarian-right for all parties over the past 10 years or so. Note how the test appears uncallibrated with almost every professional politician (left or right)(*) in the same quadrant. That did not use to be the case. The world is very much a monoculture currently when it comes to socio-economic issues that matter cf. the distractions they like to disagree on to "entertain"/split the [m]asses.

(*) The traditional left/right scale falls on the y ~ x diagonal here. This is why the scatter plot of all professionals fall there ... whereas amateur politicians (musicians for example) are somewhat more all over the board.

The FAQ on that site description the various systems is nicely succinct/handy when trying to label the form of government based on observations. Almost like descriptive personality typing.

Some of the questions were too binary but I guess they have to be in order to pigeonhole people into a category/coordinate that perhaps is more fluid depending the circumstances.

No kidding.. I don't even know how to interpret (how they mean) the very first question: "Each individual enjoys bodily autonomy and have rights that no other individual or group may violate."

@bryan, I was also confused. I think it is related to abortion and drug use.

I didn't like having to choose agree or disagree for most of the questions. Felt they were way too broad for that specific of an answer.
