Hi thedollar!

Your progress looks terrific as always. How is your weight loss going? Still working out as well?

Hi Herp,

Thanks for checking in.

I stopped tracking somewhere along the way because I was super stressed out by corona and some other projects. But initially I lost 10kg and they have stayed off luckily. So I'm pretty happy with where I'm at, but I do have a pipe dream of loosing an additional 5kg and hitting the best shape of my life. Hope this is the year!!

For the journal;
  • I started a new business project this year. It grew like crazy but sadly the project has suffered a set back because of all the growth. Honestly it's taken a lot of my time and energy and the set back hurts. I made some mistakes and offended some people. I really hate if people don't like me. I hope I can retool andthat the project can come back even stronger, otherwise I would honestly be disappointed with myself. If the project fails... That would be a huge disappointment.
  • I have gotten a crazy rare opportunity to buy a very small stake in a company that could potentially become worth 100s of millions if everything pans out. Lots of risk but I'm pretty confident that their plan might work and that they could go public within 5 years.
  • It seems like the only place I'm making money is within equities. My pay is pretty low compared to investment gains despite the fact that I spend most my time on work. From a ROI point of view I should be spending all my time trying to figure out how to invest.

Sorry about the stress but happy to hear that your weight loss has been successful! I myself have experienced the exact opposite - roughly 10kg weight gain over the past 12-18 months. Not even quite sure how that happened...

Sounds like amazing times for you! A new business of your own and exciting opportunities.

If there's one piece of advice that I can offer it's that you have to keep in mind that you can't please everyone. Show who you are by being authentic and be true to your own values and you will automatically attract those who respect you and reject those who do not.

Thanks for the encouragement, herp! I'm very much a person who hates conflict and also hate if people don't like me.

Regarding the weight loss I also had some excess weight from the first lockdown :)

Took a lot of will and effort to loose the weight but I am in a very good place now where I have lost around 10kg (going from 24.7 bmi -> 22.0 bmi). Also learned a lot on the way about my self and what works for me, so it's been an awesome journey. I hope to keep at it, but some periods in life are just stressful and once that I get stressed it's hard to also focus on keeping a healthy weight.

Well, today a new proposal from the Danish government was put forward. While announcing the proposal the PM said a lot of stuff that sounds wrong and scary to me. While most people in Denmark probably don't understand, I hope some of the ERE people do.
We must dispel the lingering myth that going to work must be pleasurable
To go to work has to be a fundamental value in the Danish society
It is a betrayal of the children who do not wake up in the morning and see their mom going to work as most adults luckily do in Denmark
That is why we - as a first step - will propose a new work culture where you have the obligation to work and if you cannot find a job you have to work for your social benefits.
Luckily nothing in the proposal would hurt the possibility of RE'ing except that the tax on stock returns increased (despite being the highest in the world already!). But since this is just the first part of the proposal based on this crazy logic, it is a real possiblity that free health care or other benefits of the socialist society could be removed unless you take on a job which would make ERE hard!

Stuff I find distasteful in a social society:
  • The constant regulations and changes trying to affect people's behaviour (instead of letting them do what they truly want to)
  • The fact that everyone must be alike. Everyone must have a job (in this case) despite the fact they might want to have a say themselves
  • Extreme levels of taxation

Hi thedollar,

The rhetoric doesn't sit well with me, either. Are we simply servants to the government's will?

I am less concerned with respect to healthcare, though. I think the overwhelming consensus is that it should remain free from the point of use.

Hey - oh wait - isn’t that TheDollar prancing down the street - waving and dancing? Prancing and prancing!

No, it’s NOT.

It’s RETIRED TheDollar and he is completely unapologettic about the whole thing

29 and he’s never gonna work a day in life except for when he works for himself or friends

But how did he do it?

- Hard work - Sure!
- Got lucky in the market - Indeed! (TSLA/crypto/FAANG)
- Was born in the wealthiest part of the world - Yes!
- Never squandered his money - Indeed always careful
- Inherited huge fortune - Yep!
- Discovered the livechanging FI/ERE philosophy on the WWW young - 100%
- Ran up the courage needed not to live how everyone expects - True

Here he is; lucky, hardworking and standing on the back of all the work and progress from humanity the last few thousand years, and he is ready to take full advantage of all these factors and lucky circumstances that life has thrown his way.

This journel will from now on regard how this is implemented, because it seems by far the greatest challenge to live a meaningful life and have a purpose when you’ve got all of the freedom in the world.

To be continued…….

Thank you guys!

October and beyond
I still have my Tesla stock, so yeah it increased 40%+ this month, and I had an incredible month financially. My NW is up $386.356 in just 31 days. The Bitcoin rally helped as well. Expenses were around $2,500 or around 0.5% WR. I visited two other countries. :D

In November I'm probably gonna go for 3 trips, clean up all my stuff and documents and also close on 1 or 2 rental properties with the goal of creating a stream of cash flow. I also hope to see friends, do some running and another sport I've started doing.

That's some crazy NW increase in just a month! You're definitely in the absolute top echelon.

Can I ask how high your NW roughly is these days? Where did most of your wealth creation come from? TSLA, crypto, FAANG or a combination?

@herp

Not quite but it's very close. However, would prefer if people who know about these things can do there own calculations, so I would appreciate it very much if you would edit to remove the equation. :D

The initial capital came as inheritance from a family member, however, the largest part is now from gains in stocks. Being invested in FAANG and TSLA has helped a lot. I do have smaller investments in BTC, ETH, some very small amounts in other cryptos, gold (etf) and now ramping up rental properties to create a larger cash flow.

@take2

Hungary, France and probably next up it's gonna be UAE, Sweden and UK (near Cornwall). There are a lot of great places I want to visit in Europe :D
