Smelly Swiss Dilettante
Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
finaly, we stayed on moskenes, i did a few hikes on flagstad, and now, we arrived on vaeroy. First impression is great, i want to buy a house here
Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
food is still a bit more expensive than switzerland. you visited værøy as well? First two times in the lofoten, i didn't visit it because i thought it would be over crowded.
Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
Not Værøy but I've been to other archipelagos further south. I feel at home in Norway for some reason.
Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
we are leaving the lofoten. i wanted to go to cornwall next, but i realised i need my passport for that now, so i'll go to slowakia.
I really loved værøya, it's maybe my favourite place in norway now.

Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
Cornwall would have been crowded at this time of year, it's best to visit spring or autumn time.
Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
thanks for the tip, i still want to do a cornwall channel island trip sometime. do you still live in the uk? or you moved to portugal?
Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
I do about 6 months in each, I keep my uk residency though. Sark and Herm are especially worth visiting imo, they are both car free as well.
Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
@chenda, thank for the tip, i might go there this fall.
also, there are flight from zrh to lax for 529, so i'm thinking about going to the ere fest, i just need it to fit into a bigger plan, because i wouldn't fly for just 2 weeks.
Is anyone in the tatra next week? i'll start and end in slovakia, but will hike in poland too.

i'm in the high tatra, i crossed into poland from oravice. I eard the camping ban is enforced, so i stay in the hut.
It's the first time i'll hike from hut to hut. It's very common in switzerland, but too expensive for my taste, so i never did it.
There are people, but not too much.
Mountains are nice.
Hut is nice too.
Also, people are nice, but i'm forced to practice my polish a lot.

Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
ever since my childhood it seems (although the photo looks dated, too).
By the way how do you embed photos like so rather than posting a link? Tried to find out but I guess not hard enough.

If you quote a post with an image like zbigi's above, you'll see an example of how to do it. The gist is to put [img]Then a url here. Then, the closing tag.[/ img] (No space between the forward slash and "img" in the closing tag if you want it to work.)guitarplayer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 4:13 pmBy the way how do you embed photos like so rather than posting a link? Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
it's not that bad, but i have a train to catch in slovakia, and rysy is in the middle, so i put a alarm for 5am.
Also, it's really funny how the camping is quiet and not full so close to this very crowded paved "trail".

Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
In Spain and Portugal there are state run campsites, some of them very basic, but all for free - only need to book online to be legally okay to camp there. Some of them are in spots like the one you described, for example this one on the island of Madeira:

We stayed there for three days if I remember, it was excellent.
