Selling art as NFT's -side income?

I've been asked a few times if I would sell my artwork as NFTs. I looked into it and it seemed confusing and like a hassle. But now I finally seriously thought about trying it. Does anyone have any thoughts on the topic?

I have quite many works that no longer even exist in physical form because I had a bit of a fit and destroyed a bunch of them. (Yeah, later someone wanted to purchase a large painting I would have got about 2k for, but it was gone.. )
It might be nice if I could release them into the world in digital form :P And it would be another small income stream (with a lot of upside potential though I don't know what are the odds of making any significant money with this - but even a few hundred per year would be at least something). So I braced myself to deal with all the "verify your address " and "create a wallet" and "link your wallet" - and try not to get scammed

I ran into a problem when trying to create a "contract" on the blockchain to start creating the NFT's and would need DD's dad's help in figuring out where the problem is.

A NFT is literally a token that says "I own a unique version of this particular token" and nothing more. It doesn't itself mean "I own this piece of artwork".

Typically websites like OpenSea will also show the thing that someone's decided that it points to. Ownership for real world assets can only be as good as the real world legal system that might back it up, and so your NFT is tantamount to a receipt of purchase/ownership.

If you're taking about digital artwork then as you will know, it's quite easy to just copy. For physical stuff then it's worth thinking about why you would want or need an NFT over a normal receipt.

Wrt. on-chain wallets and so on, be very careful. There is a term: "not your keys, not your coins". Never share your private key, and triple back then up. If you lose them, there is no password reset. Wallet drainer websites and scam tokens are common, so be aware of those risks.
