I just finished reading ERE. It really filled a gap that I was missing, after reading MMM's blog, then stumbling onto the ERE blog. I kind of did things in reverse. I really enjoyed the philosophical and practical approach of the book. Rather than just a list of tips/tricks it offered a radically different framework of thinking that put words to what I was always thinking. I have always been frugal so we have accumulated more than the average family, but that was always a by-product of not being a hyper-consumer. Now that I have 2 kids with a 3rd one on the way it has gotten slightly more difficult to maintain the same non-consumer driven life. I hope over time to use knowledge from the forum to continue to raise my kids as renaissance men/women, and continue to grow as one myself.
A few random thoughts on what I would like to find/contribute...
- I enjoy investing/repairing cars, appliances, etc/gardening/cooking/Reading
- New free or income producing hobbies
- ERE with kids
- Ways to make things rather than buy things
- Transportation (currently living in a rural area with no public transit, and not ideal for biking)
