Ibet that bear sat down and enjoyed an espresso when he was finished.
It's certainly what I enjoy after a nice Italian.

Sounds like a close call @Jean.

AI has been called the 4th Industrial Revolution. I heard an analysis of NVDA and prediction over next 10 years. Bear case is 3x, medium bull is 6x, high bull is 10x. A few think TSLA is AAPL before the iPhone. In peeking my head out from own personal history to see what's going on in the world, it seems plausible. It would be regrettable if I missed it.

Are you sure you're not chasing past losses ?

I'm not sure if one can completely separate between chasing past losses and learning from one's mistakes. Thinking upon "the what would I have done different thread", I think pausing for a moment to try to decipher where the world is heading is something I wish I did more of in the past. With regard to NVDA and AAPL specifically, it's more of continuing to put limitations on what these technological behemoths are capable of. It's a technological plutocracy and their hegemony is only increasing.

The hyped AI breakthroughs of the past couple of years amount to vast improvements in generating images and text. These, while cool, right now don't seem to have the potential of a steam engine. The optimist predict that new breakthroughs will keep popping up at the current rate, which would probably lead to something like another industrial revolution - but it may or may not happen. Those familiar with history of AI know that this is not the first time when AI was hyped as a revolution that will change everything.

I've decided from an investment standpoint, the risk of missing it is far greater than the risk of it not happening.

Bear update - we believe we saw the father. This was one big ass bear. Like Cocaine Bear size. Took up half the road way. Nonchalant gait. Just doing its thing. No playing, no smiling, all bear business. Thank God it didn't stand up. Or just stand there. I remember that line "Do bears shit in the woods." How about "Do people seeing a bear in the woods shit in the woods." It was about 100 yards out. I said my wife's name. It passed. I turned around. My wife asked where am I going. I said fucking home. She asked why. I said because I just saw a huge fucking bear. She wanted to keep going. I said OK but it's every man for himself.

Warren Buffet told the anecdote of the accountant who did Coca-Cola's books but never thought to buy the stock. Trying to think that way. Easier said than done.

Elderly people are fucked up. One guy can't even push his own wheel chair but drives his car. It literally takes him 10 minutes to pull out of his driveway and position the car to go straight. No way am I moving to Florida. It must be like bumper cars down there.

Correct me if I am wrong Henry but you are financially independent and living in New England surrounded by rich landed gentry where the only problems are a plethora of bears. I don't think you have made any mistakes in the final analysis. Maybe you should forget about investing and just focus on other things ?

And maybe buy some bear spray as well for your morning walks.

Despite living in New Jersey my whole life, I did not realize there is a part of New Jersey that is landed gentry filled with horse farms and old ass racists and bears. It's been quite the portal. I grew up in the town where Tony Soprano lived in the Sopranos. Now I live in the town where James Gandolfini moved to in order to raise his son when he became famous. I am not financially independent. Or at least I don't think I am. And I hate bullies. We have bear spray but if you need to use bear spray, it's not going to help you. I have learned that you are who you are until you die. So there is a possibility of multiple decades of high anxiety, verbal altercations and some type of general discontent with myself and the world around me. I'm not really wired well for life.

There was a bat in our house. It flew by my head. I screamed like an old lady and ran out of the house. The police came. While they were looking for it, I saw it walking through the bathroom and once again screamed like an old lady but this time stayed in the house. The police captured it, took it outside and let it loose. It's probably already back in the house. Life, when broken down to its essential components, is a series of indignities. That being said, fuck bats.

Quite the emergent renaissance ecology you've going on in New Jersey.

I spoke to the local bat specialist. Bats do not walk being that they don't have legs. They have little suction cups at the ends of their wings that allow them to crawl. I said Satan would say that's fucking satanic. He guaranteed that there are more bats in the attic and bats like in-laws do not voluntarily leave your house and have legal protection not to be killed for refusing to do so. He defended bats' importance to the ecosystem. I explained I'm Ok with the ecosystem until it's within shitting distance of my Lovesac. It seems that New Jersey is home to not one but two underworlds and I personally have problems with both of them. This is turning into some real Stephen King bullshit and I'm getting the sinking feeling that some asshole dark force wants a piece of me. I now walk throughout my house with a mop.

I'm impressed the police actually responded to a bat issue. My neighbour had a bat crash land in her garden, it couldn't fly so it just lay there gashing it's teeth and hissing. Vicious little beasts they are close up.

I believe Trump is to be buried in your local golf course, but the local planning board or whathaveyou rejected his mausoleum design as being too garish and area tone lowering.

We did not call the police to remove the bat. We called specifically as a non-emergency call in order to obtain if they know anyone to remove the bat. The dispatcher said they would do it. I said that's great. Ten minute laters two patrol cars rolled up and they removed the bat. At one point, the female officer returned to her vehicle and came back with tennis racket. It was wooden. Like the one Bjorn Borg used. Garishness notwithstanding, the land use people are probably afraid a Trump mausoleum would become a pilgrimage site.

The police actually came out to remove a bat for you? Damn. Where is this utopia you speak of? Out here, people who call 911 are put on hold for an hour.

The difference with the bears is that although they are known to break into homes, they pretty much stay outside. And if they do break in, they want your food. Maybe they'll swim in your pool or let the cubs go down the kid's slide. I've never seen a video of a bear sitting on a couch with its feet up watching television. Bats on the other hand break into homes to start families and return each year. At this moment, they are up in my attic doing God knows what, like it's a no tell motel. And when I go to sell, I might have to replace all the insulation. Fuck that.

RE: NVDA thank you. But I could not fathom selling it. I just read Cathy Wood sold again before earnings. I don't understand.

So much for after hour trading. Blowout earnings, ticker greener than Kermit The Frog shooting his load in the Hills of Killarney and when all is said and done, stock price back where it started.

Bat remediation starts tomorrow.

I had terrible bat problems in the big old house I owned for 12 years. What you need is some kind of fairly small mesh grating or something like a sock with end cut off over every possible ingress. The bats can get out through the "socks" but they can't get back in again. My "bat plan" which I tried to train my children to enact was to yell "Bat!" and then run to an outside door, prop it open, and watch for the bat flying out.

One New Year's Eve, my ex and I woke up as a bat was flying over our bed. He ran out of our bedroom, shutting the door behind him, leaving me alone with the bat. This event combined with another one in which we found ourselves in a tent squabbling about who was going to deal with some raccoons getting into some of our stuff, became the basis for one of my screening question I used when dating again after our divorce. However, I stopped asking this question after one quite-confident-in-his-toughness guy laughed and replied along the lines of "Oh no, baby. I know what you're looking for here, but I'm not messing with a pack of raccoons over some sandwiches. You gotta pick your battles."
