Anthony Deden - Savings, Endurance, Scarcity

Post by conwy »

I stumbled upon an interview with Anthony Deden, who runs "Edelweiss Holdings" and seems to have some "niche" views on investments, to do with long time horizons, preservation (rather than growth) of capital, endurance of companies, thinking like an owner rather than an investor and some other related themes.

There's a 2.5 hour interview with him on YouTube, in which we are treated to a critique of America and Wall Street, armchair philosophising on the meaning of wealth and views of him trudging through the snow in the Swiss Alps sharing some poignant anecdotes.

At first blush he seems like just an obscure fund manager heavily influenced by Warren Buffett who tries to play up a "Godfather"-esque story and a vague "Europeanness" to market himself to jaded American boomers.

Anyway he's more intriguing than the typical US celebrity investor, and there seems to be some consonance between his ideas and those of the FIRE and Early Retirement mentalities (Europeanness aside).

Anyone else heard of the fellow? Any commentary?
