Doesn’t happen a lot, but does every once and a while. Something akin to it probably once every two years or so? I don’t think reporting to the police would really do much of anything. Kind of chalk it up to living in a city.
I'm sorry, yeah there's often higher concentration of idiots and less accountability in big cities.

I had similar experiences with my parents when I was young and dealing with those kinds of attacks was very difficult for me until I worked in a correctional facility for a few years and had to learn how to shut them down as a matter of survival. What works best for me is to look the person in the eye and calmly say, "That's not appropriate behavior." If the person is too drunk or high they might be oblivious but it's shockingly effective most of the time.

Good news, bad news

Good news: Got a 10% bonus from work.
Bad news: It’s a retention bonus, so I don’t get it for another year. Also, half our team churned this quarter.

Good news: Made $1k on a free hype-y JGEP.
Bad news: If I hadn’t sold so hastily, I could have made $15k on said hype-y JPEG.

Good news: I managed to get my taxes done after much pain and labor this year.
Bad news: Massachusetts decided to withdraw the amount due twice, so now we’re giving a free $10k loan to the state government for who knows how long.

Good news: I am now a godmother to someone else’s child!
Bad news: The kid I hang out with Big Brothers Big Sisters is now sixteen (met when she was seven) and is flaking out on our visits because she’s a teenager and that’s just what they do.

Fwiw I at one time had a friend who had a little and the same thing happened, though at a younger age. Eventually there was a meeting between the big and the organization that led to one last hangout with the child and then the relationship was ended. It was a positive thing for everyone once the tough part of making the decision and ending the relationship was over.

@GdP Yeah, will probably end up doing the same at some point. It’s just hard since I’ve known this kid for ten years more or less, and had naive dreams of being in her life forever and helping her out with college money stuff and yada yada yada. And relationships wax and wane but to have them just end seems sad. Oh well.

It is sad, I agree. I felt bad for my friend and I feel bad for you too. Best of luck in working through it.

I’m pregnant! Six weeks, so plenty that can still go wrong. No morning sickness yet but definitely feeling cramps, lethargy, generally swollen all over. Yay!?
