Man . . . I am totally off this year! First year I am pretty sure I'm going to throw in the towel. There is still a possibility I'll decide to start again, but this new promotion is kicking my ass hard core. I have little left after the work day. Ohhhh Freedom.

I have been completely neglecting all the forums and blogs I follow because I've been frantically writing every day, but today I pulled off a 8k word day and have reach 48k words! So I figured I could take a break.

I've hit a slump at 23k words! I really need to power through these next few days

Final mad dash... I have 7,500 words to go. Can I do it? Will the kids let me?

I thought I'd have no problem making it, but I had to bear down hard the last couple of days to get it done. OTOH, I edited over a million words this month which really ate into my time, and that doesn't include time spent on an ongoing editing project (I don't count words for that one because I'm not billing per word).

Congratulations! I didn't make it, but I saw I wasn't going to early, and revised my personal target down to 25,000. I plan to keep writing at around 1000 words a day, 6 days a week.

Never started up again, but kudos to everyone!! Next year for me for sure.

I feel like a knuckle-dragging slacker now. Seriously. That's awesome.

@GandK--Don't be too impressed. It's infinitely easier to point out the mistakes of others* than it is to craft something of quality myself. I'm just annoyed that I'm not allocating my time better. When I get insecure about my writing, I fall back into the editing because it feels 'safe' if that makes sense.

*DH says it's my sole purpose in life.

I've already written this code! Years ago, I was writing a pure fantasy and I needed a conlang for it. I took the syllables I wanted to use in the language and wrote a series of loops in that generated unique possible "words" out of them so I didn't have to create language-compatible words "by hand." I'm certain that 50k words of gibberish came out of that app, of which I selected the most aesthetically pleasing combinations for the words I needed. I believe I ended up with a dictionary of about 4k words at the end of that exercise. I even wrote a font for that language. I did great foundation work... for a novel I never finished.
