My fiance has been using an electric hair trimmer for a couple years now. He's losing his hair anyway, so no sense in spending on haircuts.
Haircuts are what I do spend money on re: personal grooming/appearance (no nails, expensive purses, or shoes), and I spread them out as much as I can.

R$15,00 every two months here. And i can try a new style every time.

I used to have a buzzcut for R$7,00. But my head looks like a watermelon.

Best cost saving measure ever! You can buy an electric shaver for the cost of a haircut! It pays for itself instantly.
I've been using a Remington or Wahl for 7+ years. The Remington was $16, lasts forever. I traveled and forgot to bring the shaver a couple times, so I have a few different brands now.
My current brand is a chinese one that I also use to shave my face (I don't like a clean shave because I get razor burn *always*). So that saves me on razor blades too!
I'm now a total pro at shaving the back of my head of stray hairs by feel alone. I don't need to see the back ever.
The next step up is actually a Flowbee or RoboCut.
I bought a Flowbee for my Dad's birthday 2-3 years ago. It's fantastic! Definitely a bit on the clunkier side, but the resulting haircut is 10x better, it results in much smoother transitions if like to have different lengths for sides and top, and you can also keep your hair longer instead of buzz cuts all the time.

I've cut my hair since leaving for college. That was close to 9 years ago now. Gone through a few clippers since then, but never looking back.
