In a moment of weakness today, I went ahead and bought 54 more shares of Altria (MO). The yield was just too good.

Since we are talking a little about shipping, which I like long-term. Anyone know anything about Golar LNG (GLNG)? Is anyone other country benefiting from fraking? If there are a lot LNG might not be as good as it appears.

Sold some IWT, which has gained 35% since I bought it, and then bought twice the notional in CSX. Dividend increases and payout ratio in CSX are impressive and it looks oversold.

Articles like this one make me nervous. I'm not buying yet. I actually sold more last week.

I can't read that--paywall. Wouldn't a move away from bonds usually be a bullish sign for equities?

You can google the article title (in quotes) and hit the first link, gets you around the paywall.

I bought (more Vanguard Total Market Fund) a few weeks ago on that dip, and now I'm out of cash. I have never in my life hit a low, but I figure if I buy when it's low-ish that's got to help so I've been trying not to feel too bad about pulling the trigger too early, maybe (maybe not; who the hell knows!).
This whole Fiscal Cliff scare is so ridiculous. I can't believe institutional investors are actually selling based on it, and retail investors don't have enough of the market to effect much, no? Are institutional investors that stupid? Or is all this selling based on something sneaky I'm not seeing?

If we drive over the fiscal cliff, there will be a recession. For institutional investors, selling some to hedge the chance of a recession is worthwhile as that will leave cash for them to purchase with.
My gut feeling on a worst-case scenario is that we will drive off the fiscal cliff, but the legislatures will pull together and pass some retroactive bills to pull us back, where we're still looking over the edge.

Keep in mind, that just because some talking head on TV or some headline in the USA Today says the above is the reason for the very minor selloff, does not mean it actually is the reason or that it's the main reason. Half of Europe is still a mess. Company earnings are falling. Job creation is still shaky. Those and many other reasons could be the cause for the selling. Though, right now the market is slightly positive.

Institutional investors aren't as smart as you think they are. Trust me.
