I've been lurking in the forums for awhile and have posted a few times but it is time that I introduce myself. I am a college student in Sacramento. This is my second stab at college after bombing for a few semesters when I was younger. I decided to take time away from school to work and had an interesting past several years.
After bouncing around between over a dozen jobs I'm realizing that something has got to give. Get my degree, finish school and seek better employment opportunities. Or start my own business and hopefully get it profitable.
I keep my expenses low. I rent a room for $200/mo. I have a free buspass for getting around the area since I am a student. I coupon my ass off. I take less an hour or so out once every few weeks and research free and cheap things to do in the area for the next month and fill in my calendar.
I would love to continue to find ways to keep my expenses low and learn how to invest my money. I look forward to chatting with you all!

Re: College student in Sacramento, CA here
I got some very diverse work experience since leaving school several years ago. I worked as an actor at an amusement park, a tour guide for a candy factory, a package handler, a cashier, a merchandiser, telemarketer, managed a funk band, and entry level marketing at a big box retailer. I don't regret a minute of it! I have learned so much about what well run businesses do well and what poorly run businesses do less well. Each job has taught me something either about myself, about sales or about running a business.
I have been thinking about starting a tax prep business, a food business (perhaps food trucks, mall kiosks, traditional bakery) and a comic book shop. I think about doing tax prep while I'm still in school as a "validation test".
