I actually enjoy a lot of his films. But being around people who laugh maniacally at things that are not funny is uncomfortable.

Perhaps, though can start from nearly no input and do meta-prompting to build scaffolding for itself. There's some freedom in that.

Enjoy wackamoling AI while you still can. Within the next 5 to 10 years it will be platformed on a geographical scale. When heads of states are involved, a new type of carnival is coming to town. And the game won't be played with you holding the hammer.

With the rapid growth of AI and Bots creating engagement and content I never thought about it much. That being said I stumbled across this video last week and myself hadn't heard about the "Dead Internet Theory" that is going around now.

Pushing back a bit on some of her core points around AI decreasing discoverability and exploration, agents are crawling the web for as much content as they can find for all kinds of purposes. LLM's integrate with Search and Deep Research to find needles in haystacks and are getting quite good at it. The internet has been mined for gold, although the gold rush hasn't yet stopped. Novel content will tend to stand out in a sea of slop. Models have their biases and competition could keep them polarized enough to cover the space (i.e. pick any personality). She certainty is right about the internet undergoing a paradigm shift. Every layer from applications to OS to hardware is being influenced. I often wonder how AI and web3 will synergize.. such a complementary fit between mutability and immutability.. it would seem.

Case in point: This is presented as the opinion of a web2.0 talking head. "The medium is the message" as McLuhan pointed out. For years, we've been bitching about how web1.0 was lost to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_September ... as expert knowledge was replaced by Joe Random User offering their uninformed opinion on everything between heaven and earth. What's happening is but people's opinions being replaced by AI generated slop. IOW, web2 people are complaining that web3 is doing to them what they themselves did to web1.

The internet is a media technology. The evolution of media technology is context becoming content. The internet will become content within the AI context, which will also include the physical world as it is in the first stages of it becoming entirely translated into data.

And eventually, everything be self-referentially made up, and nothing will be real.

This actually happened: https://arstechnica.com/ai/2025/05/chic ... ake-books/

Will generative-LLM/AI be the technology that eventually deals pomo out of its own game after demonstrating that completely detaching symbols from objective meaning is ... maybe not a functional philosophy?

Gravity is real, and as AI moves into industrial and practical applications, it needs to be subjected to the laws of nature. Information has always been fucked up, truth wise and such. People have made it this far with some radically different ideas about the nature of reality than those who came before. Pre-16th century truth about the nature of the cosmos was made up. They still managed to eat, fight and drunk fuck each other despite their utter ignorance on some pretty significant issues.

Humans live their myths. When myths get challenged by other myths society trembles.

Collateral was pretty good too.

The part that worries me about it is that it used to be one could at least somewhat rely on for-pay journalism to deliver somewhat-ethical content. In-print newspapers etc. justified their cost with a promise of quality. That staff is being let go to be replaced with filler content in the sort of print media one would have traditionally regarded as "legit" reveals a centralized push to erode civil society. There was eg. the deterioration of twitter under musk, and now we observe the beginning stages of the deliberate destruction of any media that would have served as a legit source of information. If AI hallucinations being published as legit info is something that can happen, people will stop trusting that anything with a "real person" byline is legit, and they will stop paying for print media. And if people stop paying for media, one of the last sources of actual information will disappear. What then happens of civil society? Of democracy? Rip man we're fucked.

I think we're seeing end stages, not beginning stages. I remember newspapers and magazines from 20 years ago, they were night and day compared to today's slop. We don't need AI to kill meaningful journalism, Internet all but did it already.

Jensen's investor call yesterday did not end with his usual AI doxology but a message to the administration that their China's policy is killing him to the tune of $50 billion and that said policy has geo-political implications as well.

Word on the Tesla hyper-bull street is that Elon accomplished what he set out to do - see Department of Transportation Chief photo-ops in Texas Gigafactory - but he does not the believe the government can be completely turned out on AI despite a favorable administration. Therefore, Elon is going to force the system to change from the outside by the sheer amount of revenue that autonomous driving and a robotic workforce will generate. Basically, he is going to flood the system with money. I just hope to get a drip out of the faucet.

Jensen Huang used last night's NVDA earnings call to send a message to Trump to end the tariffs due to the opportunity both NVDA and the US are losing to China.

During his time at DOGE, Elon was able to get top Trump administration to create federal template for autonomous driving, which is set to begin in June in Austin Texas. However, due to the sheer size of the administrative state embedded in Washington, DC, much of which is opposed to changing the status quo as well as Elon personally, Elon knows he will not receive the backing he could have if the US government used it's sheer force to support him, contrary to what is happening in China. Therefore, Elon believes scaling autonomous driving and then a robotic workforce, will generate so much profit in the US economy, that the tidal wave of money flowing into the private and public markets will force the government to adopt a top down pro-AI policy. Elon honestly believes he is introducing an age of perpetual and unlimited abundance. I don't really give a shit about that, I just need TSLA to get to $1000 a share.
