Maybe this is not what is intended but my actual withdrawal rates have been

2021 (5 months) 0.00%
2022 0.00%
2023 (first 7 months) 0.00%

Historical accumulation era data

2013 7.53%
2014 10.08%
2015 5.64%
2016 4.80%
2017 4.33%
2018 4.21%
2019 4.41%
2020 3.55%
2021 2.50% (first 7 months)

Those numbers are based on actual spending during the year compared to stash balance during the same year. I never really reported them in this thread because my situation isn't straightforward due to having an annuity which would cover a substantial portion of my monthly expenses once retired (so far it's covered about 125%-130% of my actual spending while retired). I had estimates of what my retirement-long average withdrawal rate might be, and what I recall is that it was down to about 0.6% on the cusp of plug pulling (figured somewhat conservatively) assuming I lived to about 85.
I can't figure out how to edit this post to clean it up. "Equivalent" is the average of (spending per month/investement account balance at end of the prior month) over the period. The reason actual is zero is I'm the unusual position of having been grandfathered into an old school noncontributory retirement plan (pay out as an annuity is the only choice) at my companythat more than meets my current spending needs.

FY 2022: actual 0.0% (no withdrawals made), equivalent 2.4%
FY 2023: actual 0.0% (no withdrawals made), equivalent 2.0%.
Q1 2024: actual 0.0% (no withdrawals made), equivalent 2.0%

I had to go back and calculate this from my spreadsheet.
2011 - 93.9% (Age: 27)
2012 - 76.9%
2013 - 76.2%
2014 - 48.1%
2015 - ?
2016 - ?
2017 - 23.9%
2018 - 12.3% (began drastically reducing expenses here)
2019 - 5.5%
2020 - 5.5%
2021 - 4.7%
YTD 2022 - 4.5% (Age: 38)
2024-05 - 3.45% - still working remotely about 4 hours/day and saving 75% of income.

does this mean, that is how much you would have to withdraw to cover your living expenses?

Went to look at job ads for my home town; a casino dealer's starting salary would represent a 4.46% withdrawal rate on my current savings.
As of Jan 2025, living on the legal minimum wage in my home country corresponds to 2.2% of my pre-tax liquid net worth.

1.8%

We are only a few years from drawing the state pension, at that point our withdrawal rate will be very close to zero.

Congratulations to everyone for reaching these goals!

What is the general perspective on SWR, specifically using it right away rather than waiting for capital to accumulate significantly?

For example, let's say I have €50,000 invested, with a gross interest rate of 7% this year (yielding an additional €3,500).

I also have monthly expenses for my son's braces, totaling €1,000 annually (equivalent to 2% of my potential SWR). Additionally, I spend €2,000 on our annual family trip (4%), and my mortgage costs me €8,000 per year (16%).

Given this scenario, is it recommend withdrawing funds using the SWR technique, or covering these expenses from the salary, so pay the COL with one's salary or from invested capital?
