Location: in/near Amsterdam, park (good weather), restaurant/covered location (in case of rain)
When: 7 or 8 september 2024, let's see what works for most people.

I leave it up to others if they want to discuss specific topics, to suggest specific locations etc.

Its busy with meetups , I visit the European meetup next weekend in Latvia, organised by loutfard. And after that I have planned my boat journey in the Netherlands. Since there is no specific preference for a date, let's go for the 8th of September.
Location: I suggest the Vondelpark, but please make suggestions if you can think of a better location!

Some observations after decades without a job:

DW does "staying productive" by maintaining our capital on par by constantly searching for and deposit the best savingsinterest quotes on European banks,
as investing in stocks does not fit to our characters. We accept just low roi.

We both feel productive by maintaining our very old house, doing all household jobs ourselves, cooking from scratch, our garden, our little motor yacht.
I feel productive by participating in the maintenance of the rowing boats of the rowing club I am member of. One morning every week when I am in my home town in the Netherlands.

Studying and reading new books (often discussed in the forum) gives new and interesting perspectives which I integrate in daily life.

It is perhaps a strange vision but also keeping health optimal contributes to feeling productive, from studying about nutrition, about movement and about rest to actually applying the results (inclusive sport and exercises) in daily life. It keeps us away from the medical industry.

Changing our living place from the Netherlands in summer, doing boat-trips for days and to Austria in winter, changing language, and the themes I mentioned before give rhytm in our daily life.

By the way: I have an annual membership to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. When I'm in Amsterdam on the 8th I'm planning to go there as well. I am allowed to take one other person in for free. If there is someone who wants to visit the Rijksmuseum with me on that day (that would probably then be before the meetup in the park), please reach out. We could meet up at the Rijksmuseum and potentially go our separate ways inside.

Allright, getting closer to the 8th and some more people interested in coming, so lets organize things!

I expect to be in the park around 12:00-13:00, but those who want to gather earlier or come by later, that's fine of course.
It seems like it might rain, so perhaps we'll need to find another nearby spot.

That is super cool!
I should be able to show up at around the same time as rube.
If the weather collaborates, I could bring some cold cuts straight from Italy to share, and we could improvise a picnic (the bread at Albert Heijn has been one of the most pleasant surprises of NL so far).
Or we could go to a high end steakhouse and splurge on air-flown Japanese wagyu and fine wine.

We will definitely go to the most expensive restaurant in "Old South", the poshest 'hood of Amsterdam (at least as far as I know? Maybe there's a secret superposh part where part of the attraction is that only the superrich even know it exists?).

I'll try to be at the Vondelpark around 12 as well, and beforehand I will tour my mansion with the beautiful paintings and sculptures (a.k.a. the Rijksmuseum). I'll do most of the traveling in my $4 million vehicle on rails (with, of course, a professional driver).
