If you have some lottery money lying around, there's the Wave 2. Dual ducts (hot/cold), portable, and runs off a battery so you can charge via solar when you're not around.
It's pretty impressive how small they were were able to make this thing.
A/C For Small Trailer/ Bus or alternatives
Re: A/C For Small Trailer/ Bus or alternatives
Hey everyone, I finally got my window unit A/C in. I purchased the unit used from a friend for $100. After looking at several options and talking to a few people, I finally got an old dude who was like "just put a piece of plywood to block the top of the window and hold the A/C in place." I was able to get a scrap of wood from an old neighbor who also cut it for me. I then painted it black to match the bus with some kind of paint that is supposed to keep the wood from rotting.
Thanks everyone for talking me out of getting one of those tube ACs. I also turned the bus 90 degrees so that the long side of it gets less sun (I could benefit more from moving it into the shadow of the house it's behind.
I'm planning on blocking the windows out with some reflective material this guy gave me on a camping trip (it was supposed to help our tents stay cooler but it kept blowing away because we didn't have a good method of attachment. He gave up on it and handed all of it to me).
There are some air leaks on the side of the A/C as the unit is smaller than the width of the window and there is a cabinet blocking me from using both of the fins. There is also a small air leak around the one fin I'm using as it doesn't sit perfectly flush with the window. Does anyone have suggestions for blocking these air leaks? I need to be able to get the unit in/out of the window a few times over the course of the summer.
The next thing I'd like to do is get 2 shade structures for either side of the bus so I can have some outside real-estate. I could easily buy 2 new $50 shade structures from walmart, but that's not very ERE. Does anyone have any creative ideas for shade structures. They have to be at least as aesthetically pleasing as a store bought one or my friends will likely not want them in their yard. Thanks again everyone for your input!
