Okay, it's a bit weird asking highly specific technical questions here, but I know there are a few people around here fixing up and flipping smartphones as a hobby.
I'm fiddling with an old iPhone 5S and trying to open it. According to the interwebs, the two screws on the bottom are P2 (pentalobe). I happen to have a P2 bit, but it does not fit even if it looks like it should fit. Luckily, I also have a small unmarked screwdriver from an old repair kit (probably iPhone related) that does fit!
The question is why the P2 bit didn't fit? Does Apple use their own P2s or is the term ambiguous. My P2 bit has significantly more rounded lobes than the driver that actually works . See profiles in links. Shenanigans?
Pentalobe Apple/iPhone
Re: Pentalobe Apple/iPhone
It seems they aren’t all quite the same. I use the cheap black handled screwdrivers they toss in with battery replacements.
