The talented Mr Ripley. My favourite book of all time. The film is good but the book is *much* better.
Netflix have made a series based on the book called Ripley. Shot in black and white and looks promising so far. Just hope they don't soften it up like Anthony Minghella did in 1999. I want pre-meditated murder, zero remorse and no needless homosexuality thrown in.
I finished binge watching Ripley last night and I have to say I was very impressed with it. It faithfully follows the book it all the important ways, with a lot of clever details for Highsmith fans and convincingly recreates post-war Italy. Shooting it all in black and white was a bit of a gamble but it paid off I think. So good job Netflix, you deserve an award for it.
