Hello there, it’s been a while.
We have a small child, since covid only one is working.
- currently located in the Netherlands (no 30% ruling)
- considering if relocating to Switzerland, Spain or Ireland would be better for us in the long term.
Numbers:
NW 400k (80% stocks - 20% cash) + 100k house downpayment
House mortgage: 500k, 1.7%, 50% interest only
1) Can you critique my current allocation?
2) we have an estimation of possible salaries abroad, and get an estimation about living costs. But taxation gets a bit harder. How to figure out how moving to one of these countries impact taxation-wise our savings rate? Hiring an (international) tax firm could be a good idea, but I don’t know if they’d take us since our Nw isn’t so high.
Looking forward to your opinions and comments.

Advice and opinions?
Re: Advice and opinions?
Taxation in Switzerland is simple enough once you know which municipality (!) you're moving to, what you stand to make as gross income and the net worth you're bringing into the country.
So much so that the Federal Tax administration publishes a calculator:
https://swisstaxcalculator.estv.admin.c ... wealth-tax
You can pick between English, German, French and Italian

Re: Advice and opinions?
Why do you want to move ?
Re: Advice and opinions?
I don't know how anyone can help with these situations. I honestly feel focusing so much on ER is the wrong focus but I understand because going to work full time sucks.
@Chenda asks a good question.
I think the focus should be living a good life. Hopefully that means that you save money because generally in our society we live so large that you can cut back and be just as happy because so much money is basically wasted. Happiness is a lot more complex than just more money spent equates to more happiness.

I like life in switzerland.
It is in many aspect similar to the netherlands.
As jacob said, taxation is simple, but tax rate are different in every municipality. But if you have a low income, it might not be enough of a difference to justify chosing a place over an other.
