It’s Jacob’s forum and my position is that he’s the only one whose opinion counts, but my 2c is that it would be a good choice.
Outside of people requesting it for safety (in which case it can be handled by the administrator) I think avoiding the damage to the community coming from post removal supersedes the “right to edit”.

There's a 60 day editing limit. (This is the maximum it can be set to.)

Available on request for older posts. This is to protect thread-coherence from carpet bombing.
