I remembered about this blog last night and haven't seen it linked here yet. I like the breakdown of phases of adventures in different vehicles and boats. A great reminder that kids don't need to slow you down:

Henry Rollins has a cool story with some ERE threads woven into his story. He went from working at an ice cream shop to lead singer of one of his favorite bands. He continued evolving into writing, publishing, acting, and spoken word/stand up. Humility, passion, and drive are the foundation of his success.

"Great Wide Open is a series of 6 short films, directed by Jared Leto, that celebrates America's National Parks and the incredible adventurers who explore them."

I watched the first five episodes today. I don't think he's released the sixth yet. Cool series and I recommend the whole thing. Episode 5 is particularly relevant to this thread:

@Ego

Geez this guy is not only yoked (arms bigger than my legs), he is also in the top 0.01% of fitness....
Ryan Hall is no stranger to speed. As the fastest marathon runner in U.S. history and first U.S. runner to run a sub-one hour half marathon, Ryan is used to long – and high-intensity – runs.
Other videos in that channel includes one guy attempting 7800 pull-ups in 24 hours. I had no idea there was people attempting these sort of feats I would've just deemed impossible from the start...Good Lord.

Fourteen Peaks: Nothing is Impossible

With an ego the size of Texas and a chip on his shoulder the size of Mount Everest, Nepali Mountaineer Nimsdai Purja sets out to stand atop all fourteen 8K+ meter mountains in the world in record time. The previous fastest to completion was 7 years. Purja attempted it in 7 months.

Purja is quite a character. He was the first Gurka to become a member of the UK's Special Boat Service before taking up mountaineering. I like the fact that the film did not try to portray him as loveable. My guess is if he were born today in the US he would be Ritalined into a compliant, comatose little bugger.

@Ego-That project was insane and extremely impressive. Just the one 48 hr stretch where he climbed Everest, Lhotse and Makalu is mind blowing but that's like 2 min of the film.

He's definitely toying with death. It's admirable that he's willing to help other climbers but rule number 1 in emergency med is not to add any more casualties. He's very skilled, but certainly has gotten very lucky.

Ego the size of Texas may be an understatement.
