how to save mouldy laundry?
how to save mouldy laundry?
being a depressed fuck, i may or may not have left wet laundry in a wicker basket for long enough for it to get mouldy. How can I save it? It's blacks so stains aren't an issue, I just hope to make the clothes safe to wear again health-wise. Thanks

Soak your clothes in a bucket of water diluted with about 2-3 cups of vinegar. Let that sit for a few hours. Afterwards, toss in washer with detergent. That should do it.

If possible wash in really hot water. Small things you can sterilize in a microwave, just get them good and wet and zap. I do that with dish rags and similar.
Be interested to hear if you have success with the vinegar.

Also, if possible, hang out in the sunshine even if cold (just no snow or rain). Turn inside out so the black does not fade.

You could dry microwave any small items that have no metal or soft plastic. I used to occasionally do this with old books.

Put clothes in a dryer with some scented fabric sheets. This will also get rid of any residual odors that the washing doesn’t remove.

washed at highest possible setting + wearing one of the shirts today (no visible mould, but again, blacks). I'll report if I get a rash . Thanks all for the help this solved the problem
