I have a speed rope with ball bearings that has become twisted and now features a more or less permanent small loop in the middle that tangles with my feet. The cause of the twist is that one bearing rotates better than the other which twists the rope. Twisting the rope eventually causes larger twists to form. Try holding a piece of string and turn one side 10-20 times while holding the other fixed to see what I mean.
The rope is made out of stranded steel wire coated in plastic.
I've tried bending the kink back... resulting in a jaggy mess that still likes to twist. Also tried putting it under tension to straighten it out.
Doesn't work well.
Any suggestions? Or alternatives?

Have you tried heating it before trying to straighten it?

Use a pretend rope instead

Does the handle come apart? Some do and you can grease or replace the bearing. If it can’t be taken apart, spray it with a bunch of white lithium grease until it’s saturated.

And the kink can be removed by immobilizing each end, put the rope under tension, and untwisting the kink - think of it as doing a reverse rope braiding.
