Another personality test - from FiveThirtyEight

Post by Seppia »

Interesting personality test form FiveThirtyEight.
This one claims to be backed by science :)

My results:

I find it to be pretty much spot on.
As always, the real issue with these tests is "how self aware is the respondent?", but still a cool one.
Seems very close to the Myers Briggs

Mine:

-Openness to experience 88
-Agreeableness 71
-Conscientiousness 63
-Negative Emotionality 29
-Extraversion 42 (but sociability < 25)

I'm surprised extraversion, openness, agreeableness were as high as they were, and that conscientiousness was as low as it was. I wonder how well they control for people answering how they'd like to be perceived, or misunderstanding themselves (i.e., having low self-awareness as Seppia put it above).

It looks like a short version of the Big5/OCEAN test. There's a longer one called IPIP. More results here:

Openness-79
Agreeableness-79
Conscientiousness-42
Negative Emotionality-17
Extraversion-46

I found it interesting that my low negative emotionality score was mostly due to complete absence of volatility.

I took this a year ago or so I think because I love 538.

I remember thinking it was significantly off. Mainly it had me too extraverted and not neurotic enough. And my openness was something like 95%, and while it's true that I'll entertain any idea, I tend to avoid physical novelty like the plague, so am I actually open...?

I basically came away feeling like I knew less about myself than I did before I took the quiz.

I love that the invitation to send to others is pre-filled in with 'my annoying coworkers' - hahaha!

Openness to experience 79
Agreeableness 38
Conscientiousness 67 (more responsible than productive - sounds about right)
Negative emotionality 42
Extraversion 33

Openness 96

Agreeableness 21

Conscientiousness 42
Mostly organization which is easy when you do not own much.

Negative emotionality 8
I cannot really tell if this is true. Perhaps I do experience a continuous trickle of anxiety, but I never pay much attention to it because it is so steady.

Extraversion 42
Sociability is much lower than assertiveness and energy.

Very interesting!

Openness to experience 58
Agreeableness 50
Conscientiousness 46
Negative emotionality 54
Extraversion 88

Enjoyed reading the comments, although a lot felt like fluff.

I got about the same scores as on the test in the other thread. 4 on Agreeableness, rather than 1.

To me the test feels too short to be all that accurate.

Openness to experience - 71 (higher intellectual and creative)
Agreeableness - 46 (higher respectfulness)
Conscientiousness - 92 (all of them) “hey, baby, I’ll increase your positive health outcomes”
Negative emotionality - 8
Extraversion - 63 (mostly assertiveness and energy. Low sociable)

You're just becoming a better person. :D

I'm not taking this. My scores on the other test showed mid 90's on the neuroticism subcategories of anger and anxiety. That just made me angry and anxious.
