Hat for sun protection

Post by Lucky C »

I'd like to get a hat that will protect my neck/ears/nose from getting sunburned, and isn't too hot to wear it for a few hours on a sunny day in the 80s. In the short term I'll be going on some hikes in Death Valley, but I also want it for doing gardening/yard work in the summer. It doesn't need to look good, but I also don't want one that looks "stupid". Any recommendations?

Urban sombrero for extra style. Otherwise boonie hat.

Straw is a good bet. This is my yard work hat:

If you don't like straw ..This one was mentioned last time and looks pretty nice.

I went with a boonie hat (previously didn't know the name for it) because a Walmart seller had some for $5 including shipping. Not as nice as the straw hats but I don't plan on wearing it often and it packs compactly.

I love this one:

Cheap and waterproof, not just for the sun. Folds up small for packing.
