A couple weeks ago, Get Rich Slowly featured a reader story that perfectly illustrates ERE. A guy named Ian opted out, built his own off-grid home in the middle of nowhere, and plans to retire at 30.
Likable guy and interesting story. Enjoy.

Thanks, akratic, for pointing that out. Hadn't noticed before, but now I've subscribed.
@The Dude: I think that's what I like about his story, too. He seems really chill, but also has a very clear vision for his life. Pretty much what I've been striving for for years.

Great story here, I think his house is really cool too.
In my 20's some friends and myself thought we'd never get married or have kids either. That changed for 100% of us. :-)
He's seems very flexible, so I think he can adapt to wherever life takes him.
