Money & Life. It's fairly basic but I felt it was a good watch.

If you have Netflix, I believe it's on there now.

I don't think anyone posted this yet ... A Simpler Way: Crisis as Opportunity

It's similar to other videos on simple living that have been posted, but it's still pretty good. I wish they talked more specifically about the social problems they had in the group. I would have found that part interesting.

+1. I think that's one of the most difficult problems to overcome in all this, especially for people in our vein of personality.

It's amazing all they were able to build with recycled/free material.

This is probably my favorite self sustained home. I hope to be able to attain the skills necessary to live like this guy by building my own smart home

Lady lives on $3,000 per year (for the last 2 or 3 years), living in an SUV. She gets $10k per year from disability payments and puts most of it toward paying off debt.

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1MKpQW5SFQ
Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNeynaFVje0

She doesn't give much detail on her spending, other than saying it's $250/month and that it's very difficult (for her) to spend that little.

This is a video on how to get used computer parts and any other tech related stuff super cheap:

BTW this is a great resource for tech related news, and their jokes are incredibly cringey.

The Century of the Self: A 4-part BBC documentary from 2002 on how psychoanalysis (focusing a lot on Freud) has been used to control the masses (great for government) by engineering our desire for mass consumption (great for corporations too). I did a search and looks like this wasn't posted yet.

Samurai Gourmet on Netflix. Based on a comic by taniguchi. It's about a newly retired man who has to learn what to do with his time. He decides to visit different restaurants in his town. It's quite soothing and poetic.

DiResta's channel. It's mostly DIY with a focus on machining. Recycle/maker ethics. Many creative projects.

Not sure if this has been posted. Self-sufficient Renaissance man tries to build a fusion reactor in his home while running a technology website to help people build their own stuff. “This is what I do for fun and giggles. [...] It’s me against the world.” He also lights his cigarettes with a torch. Notice the forum theme.

“I’m a non-violent happy guy who likes to be left alone.”

Great inspiration.

This guy is awesome. He built his own nuclear reactor in his basement. Although I can't imagine living his type of lifestyle (he's rather messy for my taste) but the principles behind it all are really great: open-source, homesteading, revealing companies trade secrets lol. Worth a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIOZ_aM ... 5n9zVNFwZw

I don't think I'll bother, knowing Channel 4 it will be full of stuff to press your emotional buttons.

I don't watch tv at all, so your opinion made me even more curious about it. Just wonder how mainstream media will show FIRE for regular citizens :)
