Lying in bed last night, as I straddled the conscious and dream states, a poem entered my mind:

Life is slavery.
Death is freedom.
When I retire,
I will fart into a Costco PA system.

I think it accurately summarizes my worldview as well as the teleos of my earthly journey. Usually I forget such things, but I woke up with it clearly in my mind. I am very thankful for that.

I'm also thankful you remembered that one; lots to think over in that one.

I guess he deleted his account, but opted to let his contributions to this board remain.

Confirmed. He wanted to delete the account but let the posts remain which I very much appreciate.

Another one bites the dust... It'd be quite interesting to see some kind of social network analysis of who engaged with whom during the existence of this forum. What is the half-life of the average/median forumite?

If you look at older posts (>7 years), I recognize almost no one. There are a few, @GTOO, @JP, @C40, @ego, a few others I'm sure I'm missing, who have been around a long time and participated quite a bit. Mostly though, it seems the brighter someone burns (#'s of posts wise) the quicker they burn out.

Good luck to you Jason! Your unique humorous mindfulness will be missed.

Wait, what? I missed something I guess....Next time I am at Costco (never, not around here) I will listen to their PA system waiting for your signal.

Ugh, just saw this. I f'ing hate that it's my post about his poem sitting there lingering for all eternity as he is (presumably) contemplating deleting his account. FWIW, I was being sincere about the poem; I really enjoyed it, and it really made me think.

@Jason, if you're out there, I still do want to grab that beer (or coffee, or whatever) sometime.

I would like to take this opportunity to state that upon death, retirement or banning, I would be eternally grateful if my blog lived on as an ABBA appreciation thread, a tribute to both their music and Agnatha's backside (1), both of which have provided me with hours of exhilaration and joy.

(1) Of course, demonstrating a level of discretion significantly beyond that which I myself could maintain.
Per his request, and assuming he would have demonstrated significantly less discretion.

Awww, man, that's a bummer. WTF man?

And in @jace's honor, I will here admit that I am more of an ass-man than I ever thought I was.
