There are no monogamists in foxholes.
A proper foxhole is tailor-made for monogamy. Polyamorers are in the trenches.

@Kriegsspiel:

True, but they are also often found down rabbit holes or swinging in the trees.

You and your MASH references.

My gut wrencher has always been the "no heterosexuals in months long mining disaster" permutation.

So this polyamoric future, is it with or without The Orgasmatron?

Also _Friday_ by Heinlein. At least some groups were group marriages. Not casual, they had binding contracts.

Vonda McIntyre had polyamorous groups in her stories and books

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, due to resource depletion, I do not believe the world of the foreseeable future will be able to afford polyamorous culture, since it is dependent upon enough technology to overcome difference in gender muscularity. However, I may be wrong due to the fact that Susan B. Anthony and Annie Oakley were roughly contemporaneous. IOW, it kind of depends on whether technology remains advanced to the level that weapons that can be well-managed by a 12 year old girl are still manufactured and/or industrial production efficiency renders slave management unprofitable.

December already.

Since my last entry, I spent approximately $950 on total non-work related expenses = right around $15/day. So, I still have a ways to go to reach my goal of global middle class entry level of $11/day. I have mostly been couch-surfing with my BF who buys most of our food at a friend's house. So, my expenses will possibly go up even a bit further when we part ways in January.

I am covering for a 3rd grade teacher who needed surgery for 6 solid weeks until Xmas break, but I spent the 5 weeks before that doing a lot of rough camping up north and on a road trip to NYC and Salem, MA with my DS30 and my youngest sister. I spent quite a bit more than I planned to on the road trip, because I came down with a terrible cold and had to baby myself a bit. I also spent too much money on new-new books.

That's a comfy camp chair!

Is that as big as the trees get around there? Can't be, the firewood is that big....

@enigmaT120:

The growth is probably at least 100 years undisturbed, but the picture was taken within just a couple hundred yards off of shore of Lake Huron, so just a very scant soil above pure sand, therefore ultimate size is inhibited. Predominant species are Jack Pine, Northern Red Oak, and White PIne.

I am assuming that picture with the empty chair was taken after Chief Runningwithmultiplewoman responded to your smoke signal.

I have decided that 2019 will be the Year of Execution! Therefore, I will likely be posting less frequently as I strive to DO more. "ERE" will remain in place as penultimate lifestyle design template of templates of templates, but I shall be focusing on following the tactics in some other volumes in order to shape myself up in my weaker areas.

As I noted elsewhere, I shall commence with attempt to translate/modify the Wall Street Playboys "Efficiency" program into one more appropriate for a person of almost opposite disposition of intended audience (old, female, chubby cookie eater (fat will serve as shorthand), slacker-nerd, self-aware sensualist, primarily sexually interested in even older males ( submissive will serve as short-hand.)

Upon first skim of first chapter and glance at suggested weekly calendar schedule, any OFFSSS will immediately be faced with a trifecta of seemingly impossible challenges; an hour of heavy weight lifting and intermittent extreme aerobic training, no cookies allowed in dietary regimen, and ONLY! 1 hour of reading allowed per day!

However, since I do very much agree with the author's premise that Health >> Wealth, I will attempt to moderate whining related to the first two items. The author also suggests Vitamin D supplement since the hours the program devotes to earning money through career and business creation during fast-build years might overly limit sun exposure. I do not think relying on supplements is a risk appropriate for older female on cusp of bone density loss years, so my first modification of program will be to devote same hour to HIIT body weight strength training combined with hiking/walking or working in nature/weather OR swimming. Sweets will be limited to 1 serving per day.

The author also suggests involvement in a sports team. I will translate the time/funds devoted to gym and/or sporting equipment to dance class enrollment and swimming pool fees.

The fact that reading is only allowed for an hour per day during early years of this program combined with initial assigned reading list of titles by Zig Ziglar or on topics such as advertisment copy writing offers a challenge likely only to be achieved through process of adding all the other required activites to my schedule so that there is no time left for leisure reading UNTIL I achieve such a level of wealth that I shall once more feel secure to indulge at whim as promised by author, with no further need to fret about only affordable shelter options (less than $500 including
utilities/month) being couch in semi-decrepit apartment of lovable-but-cuckoo sister with 4 dogs who fight, bedroom in luxury apartment of bi-polar, terribly messy, increasingly decrepit mother, sharing bed in modest, tidy apartment of extremely territorial-aggressive BF (currently engaged in war with neighbor reminiscent of scenes involving the father in "A Christmas Story" or the mother's BF in "8 Mile", I woke up around 11 last night because he was playing his bass on full volume along with country music station in battle against booming urban bass from next door), or renting a charming, moderately decrepit studio apartment in a 100 year old building in a borderline seriously dangerous neighborhood.

Nothing good ever came from limiting reading time, except from maybe reading work related emails.

Oh, and if you're serious about giving up on the cookies, how about sending them my way? Will power is a limited resource you know, I hear in order to succeed we need to dispense with the possibility of temptation ;)

Bravo! Your plan looks awesome and inspiring. Please keep us posted. After reading your post I've got Efficiency as well, though I am with you and not an intended audience of that book at all. Nevertheless... the principles are lucid and can be adjusted to various circumstances. ERE also can be adjusted to various circumstances and goals and, first and foremost, is a way to look at life. I use it not so much for early retirement, but as a way to stay sane amid the craziness of Silicon Valley.

For the general population, yes. However, I think most people here would benefit greatly from reading less and doing more, including myself.
