What makes a good day?

Post by Bankai »

For me, it's those 5 elements:

- good sleep

- eating healthy whole day

- exercising

- meaningful conversation

- meaningful reading

I also find a lack of work/family/societal obligations for the day, so my mind is my own.

Healthy, but fluctuating amounts of both mindful serendipity and relaxed flow.

good sleep
enough time/focus to get maintenance shit done before work (kind of implies good sleep)
good coffee in the morning, with lots of cream
otherwise fast until late afternoon or dinner time
quick but intense workout
something intellectually stimulating, be it conversation with friends, reading, or a movie

This is pretty darn good. I honestly can't think of anything that you've missed. I just remembered - having sex would round off the day.

Getting out of bed without help, avoiding anger, spending some time outdoors, keeping my mind close to what the rest of me is doing.

Finishing DIY projects makes for a feel good productive day, I like to finish those off with a cold beer or two.

How about a lenten day? I'm thinking about into putting into practice 1 day of lent a week.
It makes me the other days food tastes better.

In addition to the many good comments above, I feel good when I learned something new or improved a skill. Even just 30 minutes of practicing music, Spanish, a martial art, etc. makes me feel great.

Today is a good day.

I'm working (mostly, except for a few forays online...) on my laptop in front of a cozy wood fire. DH is reading homesteading magazines and interrupts me occasionally to explain why we "need" chickens again. :| The aroma of baking bread permeates the house. It's raining, so there's no guilty conscience prodding me to get my butt outside. Later, we'll eat warm bread and have a glass of DH's homemade wine. Pretty nice.
