@ Chenda

Right now, looking at real estate for sale, on the island, I can buy a trailer and acreage, just acreage, or a $10m mansion on acreage. I can buy small, 1/4 acre lots, developed or not.

I can have a 1/4 acre with yurt, or 5 and a yurt. I can buy 5 acres and an old trapper's cabin mostly returned to the earth.

So yes, there is variety. We have a few yoga places, but mainly yoga instructors run group classes in fitness and community centers, or come to your house. Microsoft executives started moving here in the 80's.

But no whole foods. A whole foods only works in high COL cities, where fresh food can't be had, but the appearance of fresh food will support a ridiculous markup.

We have several CSAs. And farmers markets on weekends.

I understand that when most people think rural, they think agribusiness monoculture deserts and meth heads. Rock on, if that's what one wants. But that ain't here.

@riggerjack - Sounds like you've got a nice balance between urban and rural.
