2/2/2014 1pm NYC-area Meetup

Post by Chris »

m741 mentioned having a meetup sometime after the new year, and I think that's a good idea too. So here we are.

As usual, interested participants should select their availability, then we'll finalize a day and pick a place.

You're much more proactive than me.

Do impending meetups still get stickied?

@m741 - Only if they look like they're seriously gonna happen, that is, a time and a place has been established.

Nice. I had been thinking it's been a while since the last one.

EDIT (1/21): Since the possible meetup days are fast approaching, we need to make the final decision soon. We could set a deadline for additional votes, but it seems like we have a sizable group already.

Ok, looks like we have a winner: Sunday, Feb 2. We have 6 votes for that, plus 1 "maybe". Others can join of course, but voting is now closed.

Next question is: where? Input from real city dwellers is welcome.

I'm still interested in it, though I wouldn't want to stay too late - probably til 5 or 6 (I forgot it was Super Bowl Sunday).

We could always just do a cafe or bar... I suppose things are a bit limited by the weather.

Well, since I'm not very creative, how about somewhere in Grand Central Station?

Is that a serious suggestion?

I'll be coming in to Grand Central, I'll be there regardless.

Based on past experience though, there usually isn't enough seating for everyone who wants it.

There is a public indoor space nearby: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/html/priv/550mad.shtml

As far as time: how's 1pm?

I'd be coming from long island. Apple store might be a bit crazy for a meet up from others I've been in.

Well that's a specific enough idea, so let's do that. 550 Madison it is.

I'm fine with 1pm as well.

1pm it is then.

First one there should try to find a table, if available. BeyondtheWrap, m741, and I know what each other look like and will find each other pretty easily. I'll probably have a copy of BusinessWeek with me.

So look for 3 people reading a copy of BusinessWeek at a table in NYC? Needle in a haystack... :D
